Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, who has <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=student%20loan%20(from%3AAOC)&#038;src=typed_query&#038;f=top\">posted<\/a> calls to cancel college debt on social media multiple times, has up to $50,000 in student loans <a href=\"https:\/\/disclosures-clerk.house.gov\/public_disc\/financial-pdfs\/2020\/10043223.pdf\">according<\/a> to financial disclosures. Fellow \u201csquad\u201d member Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, who has also advocated for cancelling college debt, <a href=\"https:\/\/disclosures-clerk.house.gov\/public_disc\/financial-pdfs\/2020\/10041151.pdf\">reported<\/a> owing up to $100,000 in student loans.<\/p>\n<p>Those figures are dwarfed by the nearly $250,000 in college debt <a href=\"https:\/\/disclosures-clerk.house.gov\/public_disc\/financial-pdfs\/2021\/10048126.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">owed<\/a> by the husband of Democratic Rep.
