Did you tell her that and why were you concerned about the prospects of Donald Trump coming to the Capitol on January 6?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>WATCH:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>McCarthy said he does \u201cnot recall\u201d talking to Hutchinson on the day of the Capitol riot, but suggested it was a possibility. He confirmed that he spoke to former White House deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino, Jared Kushner and the former president.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf I talked to her, I don\u2019t remember it,\u201d he said. \u201cIt was coming up here, I don\u2019t think I wanted a lot of people coming up here to the Capitol. But I don\u2019t remember the conversation.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/29\/cassidy-hutchinson-testimony-handwritten-note-eric-herschmann\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Yet Another Detail From Bombshell J6 Testimony Contested)\u00a0<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ranu asked why he was specifically concerned about Trump coming to the Capitol. McCarthy said he had no recollection of having those concerns.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou don\u2019t remember his comments?\u201d Ranu asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, but because I didn\u2019t watch it,\u201d he said. \u201cThis is what is so confusing. I didn\u2019t watch the speech, I was working. So I didn\u2019t see what was said, I didn\u2019t see what went on until after the fact.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDid you want him to come to the Capitol?\u201d the reporter pressed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, I never communicated with him about coming to the Capitol. I had no idea he would come to the Capitol, that\u2019s news to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The reporter reiterated Hutchinson\u2019s testimony that she had assured McCarthy throughout the week that Trump would not arrive at the Capitol to hold his \u201cStop the Steal\u201d rally. The minority leader repeated that he has no recollection of that.<\/p>\n<p>Democratic Mississippi Rep. Bennie Thompson, the January 6 Select Committee chairman, told reporters Friday the committee can look at the phone records of Hutchinson and McCarthy to verify the testimony, The Hill <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/house\/3579509-mccarthy-says-he-does-not-recall-jan-6-cassidy-hutchinson-call-on-trump-going-capitol\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>. The committee does not currently have McCarthy\u2019s records.<\/p>\n<p>Hutchinson <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/29\/cassidy-hutchinson-testimony-handwritten-note-eric-herschmann\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">testified<\/a> that Secret Service agent Tony Ornato informed her that Trump lunged toward the steering wheel of the presidential limousine to veer toward the Capitol, then grabbed Secret Service agent Robert Engel by the clavicle as he attempted to pull Trump back.<\/p>\n<p>The two agents are reportedly slated to deny her testimony. Ornato allegedly <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/29\/secret-service-donald-trump-steering-wheel-ornato-engel-hutchinson\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">denied<\/a> telling Hutchinson that either event occurred, according to CNN reporter Gabby Orr.<\/p>\n<p>Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/30\/trump-hits-back-cassidy-hutchinsons-testimony\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">denied<\/a> Hutchinson\u2019s allegations in a June 30 interview with Newsmax, calling the allegations \u201cabsolutely crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis lady yesterday, is there something wrong with her?\u201d he said. \u201cShe said I jumped from a car and I started strangling \u2026 a Secret Service agent who I know very well? I grabbed the steering wheel of a car, said I wanted guns at my rally. I didn\u2019t want guns.
