And in many parts of the country, as the below map shows, they remain north of $5 per gallon. These are insanely high gas prices, and in any other context, they would be viewed as a massive red flag for a president, not something to celebrate or take credit for.<\/p>\n<div class=\"Enhancement\" data-align-center=\"\">\n<div class=\"Enhancement-item\">\n<div class=\"TweetUrl\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Biden is trying to brag about reductions in gas prices while the national average remains $4.30 and many places still have gas prices over $5.50.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, seriously.<\/p>\n<p>Tone-deaf, much? <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/h0sXCvkaw7\">pic.twitter.com\/h0sXCvkaw7<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Brad Polumbo \ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8\u26bd\ufe0f\ud83c\udff3\ufe0f\u200d\ud83c\udf08 (@brad_polumbo) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/brad_polumbo\/status\/1552303909674311681?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 27, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>This is kind of like when politicians shut down the economy with lockdowns during<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/coronavirus\">the COVID-19 pandemic<\/a><br \/>\n and then, after businesses reopened and many (but not all) of the jobs came back, said, \u201cLook at all the jobs I created!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s more, Biden was just a hot minute ago telling us that gas prices weren&#8217;t his fault at all. Remember, the White House pushed the<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.based-politics.com\/2022\/04\/11\/biden-press-secretary-offers-up-truly-absurd-inflation-excuse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fake narrative<\/a><br \/>\n that it was all just \u201cPutin\u2019s price hike,\u201d happening because of Russia\u2019s invasion of Ukraine \u2014\u00a0even though gas prices had risen significantly under Biden\u2019s watch well before the invasion began.<\/p>\n<p>Biden doesn\u2019t get to have it both ways.<\/p>\n<p>If the president had no culpability for higher gas prices, he can\u2019t take credit for lower gas prices. And vice versa: If he does deserve credit for these lower prices, then he deserves blame for the higher prices.<\/p>\n<p>Consistency, people. Is it really too much to ask for?<\/p>\n<p>This is kind of similar to something former<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\">President Donald Trump<\/a><br \/>\n used to do. He would routinely take credit for the stock market when it made record gains, even though no president is really fully responsible for the fluctuations of the market. But he would never say anything or acknowledge any fault when it crashed.<\/p>\n<p>Voters should see through this kind of dishonest spin, regardless of whether the politician pushing it is a Democrat or a Republican. Focus on reality, not rhetoric.<\/p>\n<p>Analysts have always maintained that<b> <\/b>gas prices are influenced by many factors, not all of which are within Biden\u2019s (or any president\u2019s) control. That said, he has certainly<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/opinion\/three-things-biden-has-done-that-increased-gas-prices\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">worsened the problem and driven prices higher<\/a><br \/>\n through his anti-energy policies and rhetoric that have discouraged domestic supply.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not all bad. We do have a strong labor market and low unemployment rate, for one thing. But the economy is shrinking,<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.based-politics.com\/2022\/07\/13\/new-inflation-data-show-real-wages-in-decline\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">real wages are declining<\/a><br \/>\n, inflation is surging, and gas prices are bankrupting the public.
