The department\u2019s investigation is the single largest domestic terrorism investigation in the nation\u2019s history,\u201d Olsen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c-span.org\/video\/?521921-1\/justice-dept-official-testifies-national-security-threats\">told<\/a> the committee.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are committed to holding accountable those who engaged in violence and other illegal acts and to bringing to justice anyone who unlawfully tried to overturn the election. We are upholding our oath to defend the Constitution against those who tried to prevent the peaceful transfer of power,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>According to a July 26 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-dc\/pr\/ohio-woman-pleads-guilty-felony-charge-actions-jan-6-capitol-breach\">press release<\/a> by the Department of Justice,\u00a0more than 850 defendants have been arrested in the 18 months since the\u00a0breach of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 in relation to the incident.<\/p>\n<p> Whistleblowers Come Foward <\/p>\n<p>That includes\u00a0over 260 individuals charged with assaulting or impeding law enforcement. The investigation remains ongoing.<\/p>\n<p>When asked by Rep.
