Residents can expect another 1-3 inches more into Friday.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Beshear said air support has rescued between 20-30 people, with the U.S. National Guard using zodiac boats to save residents in some of the most challenging areas. At the same time, they watch as homes, trailers, and vehicles drift away.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wkyt.com\/2022\/07\/28\/breathitt-county-courthouse-opens-flash-flood-shelter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">WKYT-TV<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0reports one such rescue involved a mother and her disabled son waiting on a porch until a team brought them to safety.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Some have braved the current to save their valuables.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Krystal Holbrook, of Breathitt County, told <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/floods-storms-kentucky-power-outages-west-virginia-b79c12731d16e31dd501523ba4fb6644\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">the Associated Press<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0her family raced against the flood by gathering possessions before it became too late.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cIt looks like a huge lake back here,\u201d Holbrook said.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Roughly 23,000 residents lost power resources statewide, shutting down phone and internet service and the water systems.
