Joe Manchin reached a deal Wednesday on a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/07\/28\/dems-new-spending-bill-methane-tax-fund-environmental-justice\/\">bill<\/a> dubbed \u201cThe Inflation Reduction Act of 2022\u201d that would spend roughly $370 billion on \u201cenergy security and climate change.\u201d Just one day before the agreement, more than 280 companies and stakeholder groups <a href=\"https:\/\/bcse.org\/images\/2022%20BCSE\/Clean%20Energy%20Industry%20Tax%20Package%20Letter%20July%2026%202022%20final.pdf\">demanded<\/a> Congress pass the energy tax package.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAdditional delay in adopting the transformational policies contained in the package only hinders progress on these national goals,\u201d the groups and stakeholders wrote to Schumer, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and President Joe Biden on Tuesday. \u201cClean energy leaders, customers, and advocates across the country are poised to act on these goals.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/07\/28\/joe-manchin-spending-bill-tax-hike\/\">(RELATED: Manchin\u2019s Spending Bill Shafts Coal Miners With Massive Tax Hike)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The bill, which will head to the Democratic-controlled House for a vote after the Senate officially votes on it, delivers a $10 billion tax credit to manufacturing facilities for electric vehicles (EV), solar panels, wind turbines and more. It also delivers up to $20 million in loans to manufacturing facilities to build clean vehicles, CNBC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/07\/27\/schumer-manchin-reconciliation-bill-climate-change-provisions.html\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The reconciliation package <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/07\/27\/schumer-manchin-reconciliation-bill-climate-change-provisions.html\">sends<\/a> $2 billion to existing auto plants so they can manufacture clean vehicles, the outlet reported, and $30 billion in production tax credits for U.S. manufacturers of criminal mineral processing, wind turbines, batteries and solar panels. (Photo by Tasos Katopodis\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe entire clean energy industry just breathed an enormous sigh of relief,\u201d ACPA CEO Heather Zichal <a href=\"https:\/\/cleanpower.org\/news\/acp-ceo-heather-zichal-statement-on-sen-manchin-and-sen-schumer-deal-on-clean-energy-developments\/\">said<\/a> in a statement Wednesday after the Schumer and Manchin deal. \u201cThis is an 11th hour reprieve for climate action and clean energy jobs, and America\u2019s biggest legislative moment for climate and energy policy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The deal between the two Democratic senators comes after Manchin said he would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2022\/07\/15\/1111675233\/manchin-rejects-climate-and-tax-provisions-in-democrats-spending-package\">not<\/a> support the reconciliation bill\u2019s climate and energy provisions two weeks ago. There was an \u201cintensive effort\u201d by lawmakers and climate advocates to convince Manchin to support the provisions, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/07\/27\/manchin-schumer-deal-climate-change-00048371\">according<\/a> to Politico.<\/p>\n<p>One of those who met with Manchin to convince him to back the bill was economist Larry Summers, Politico reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI support a plan that will advance a realistic energy and climate policy that lowers prices today and strategically invests in the long game,\u201d said Manchin on Wednesday. \u201cThis legislation ensures that the market will take the lead, rather than aspirational political agendas or unrealistic goals, in the energy transition that has been ongoing in our country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Schumer and Manchin\u2019s offices did not respond to requests for comment, nor did ACPA.<\/p>\n<p>Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience.
