Michael McCaul (R-Texas.), the top Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said in an interview at the U.S. Capitol that he and Committee Chairman Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.) are on the list.<\/p>\n<p>His remarks appeared to confirm Pelosi\u2019s trip to the self-governing island, which the Chinese regime considers part of its territory, to be taken by force if necessary.<\/p>\n<p>Both Pelosi\u2019s office and the White House have declined to confirm the visit, citing security concerns.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2022\/03\/29\/Michael-McCaul-1200x720.jpg\"><\/a> Rep. (The Epoch Times) <\/p>\n<p>Leslie Shedd, McCaul\u2019s spokesperson informed the news outlet the congressman cannot make the trip because of a pre-arranged personal engagement, but that he supports Pelosi\u2019s intention.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny member that wants to go, should,\u201d McCaul said, noting that \u201cit shows political deterrence to President Xi.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut she should also pay attention to the military, if it\u2019s going to cause a blowback and escalate things,\u201d the congressman warned.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-Calif.) told NBC she also was invited to join the proposed trip, but had to decline.<\/p>\n<p> Focus of Biden-Xi call <\/p>\n<p>Pelosi\u2019s proposed trip could loom over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/biden-and-xi-to-hold-phone-call-thursday-to-discuss-taiwan_4625248.html\">the call<\/a> between President Joe Biden and Chinese Communist Party (CCP) head Xi Jinping scheduled for July 28, with Taiwan expected to be a key agenda item. The U.S.-Sino top leader call will be the fifth of its kind.<\/p>\n<p>CCP leadership threatened \u201cforceful measures\u201d against the United States and Taiwan should Pelosi visit.
