Lance Gooden sent a letter to the acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Thursday to raise concerns about a possible effort to give illegal migrants IDs, according to a letter exclusively obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I demanded President Biden stop allowing illegal immigrants to use arrest warrants as ID to fly, I was hoping he\u2019d stop flying them across the country. Instead, he\u2019s decided to give them government IDs and risk the safety of our communities, the integrity of our elections, and the stability of our social safety net programs,\u201d Gooden said in a statement to the DCNF. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/07\/27\/yuma-sector-border-illegal-migrants-felons\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: In Just One Week, Border Patrol Arrested Over 100 Felons Illegally Crossing The Border)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Biden administration is weighing the implementation of a program to give IDs, ICE Secure Docket Cards (SDC) , \u201cto provisionally released noncitizens,\u201d an ICE spokesperson recently told the DCNF. The proposal is included in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/117\/crpt\/hrpt396\/CRPT-117hrpt396.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fiscal year 2023 appropriations bill<\/a>, meaning it could be put in place before the midterms, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2022\/07\/22\/biden-id-cards-immigrants-undocumented-ice\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according<\/a>\u00a0to Axios.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Biden Administration must provide Congress with answers and end this absurd practice,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnless this program has rigorous guardrails to ensure adequate vetting, credentialing, and collection of biometrics, Secure Docket Cards will do nothing to secure our border, and the American people should be very concerned our entire national security framework is in jeopardy. I want to reiterate that, without collecting and properly utilizing biometrics, Secure Docket Cards will be useless and increase fraud and illegal immigration,\u201d Gooden wrote in the letter to ICE Acting Director Tae Johnson.<\/p>\n<p>The ID would include a photo, biographic identifiers and security features for the \u201cmutual benefit of the government and noncitizens,\u201d a ICE spokesperson told the DCNF. Gooden previously <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/01\/25\/gop-lawmakers-announce-legislation-to-stop-tsa-from-allowing-migrants-to-use-arrest-warrants-as-id-at-airports\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">raised<\/a> concerns about the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) allowing illegal aliens to use ICE civil arrest warrants as IDs at airports after the agency disclosed the program to his office in January, according to a letter exclusively <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/01\/18\/exclusive-arrest-warrants-count-as-id-for-migrants-at-airport-security-tsa-says\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">obtained<\/a> by the DCNF.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf ICE is committed to ending human smuggling and trafficking, protecting vulnerable immigrants like women and children, and securing our border, then Secure Docket Cards must include biometric collection and utilization throughout the immigration lifecycle,\u201d the Texas Republican added.<\/p>\n<p>Under the Biden administration, there have been historic encounters of migrants illegally crossing the border with over 3 million <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbp.gov\/newsroom\/stats\/southwest-land-border-encounters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">recorded<\/a> by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) since the president took office.<\/p>\n<p>Gooden also requested that top ICE officials brief members of Congress before finalizing the program.<\/p>\n<p>TSA referred the DCNF to ICE, which said that the agency responds to such inquiries through \u201cofficial channels\u201d and by \u201cappropriate officials.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"View Letter to ICE on Secure Docket Card Pilot Program - 7.28.22 - Final on Scribd\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/document\/584546365\/Letter-to-ICE-on-Secure-Docket-Card-Pilot-Program-7-28-22-Final#from_embed\">Letter to ICE on Secure Doc\u2026<\/a> by <a title=\"View Daily Caller News Foundation&#039;s profile on Scribd\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/user\/292804634\/Daily-Caller-News-Foundation#from_embed\">Daily Caller News Foundation<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience.
