Jackson Women\u2019s Health last month, the decision has denied Americans access to \u201cessential health care services\u201d that will extend beyond U.S. borders.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cThis disastrous decision will be felt around the world, setting back many countries who have long used Roe v. Wade as the basis to strengthen abortion rights protections in their own countries,\u201d Booker <a href=\"https:\/\/pai.org\/news\/abortion-is-health-care-everywhere-ensuring-access-to-abortion-services-for-millions-of-people-globally\/\">said<\/a>. \u201cWe must take immediate action to mitigate the global impact of this decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Booker said the legislation that gained co-sponsorship from 21 other senators would ensure federal funding would give women \u201csafe\u201d abortion access overseas.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Repealing Helms in the Senate is unlikely, considering most Republicans celebrated the nation\u2019s highest court for overturning Roe, which was responsible for the deaths of 63 million unborn children since 1973.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), who prides himself as a pro-life Democrat, would likely vote with the red side of the chamber, considering he opposes reversing the Hyde Amendment. In most cases, this similar amendment bans using federal funds to pay for abortion.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Last fall, Manchin told<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/manchin-reconciliation-dead-on-arrival-if-it-doesnt-include-hyde-amendment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">National Review<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0that a reconciliation bill pushed by House Democrats, which would create a new Medicaid-like program without the Hyde Amendment, would be \u201cdead on arrival.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cYeah, we\u2019re not taking the Hyde Amendment off,\u201d Manchin said. \u201cHyde\u2019s going to be on \u2014 it has to be. It has to be. That\u2019s dead on arrival if that\u2019s gone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">President Joe Biden recently signed an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2022\/07\/08\/fact-sheet-president-biden-to-sign-executive-order-protecting-access-to-reproductive-health-care-services\/\">executive order<\/a> protecting women\u2019s so-called reproductive health care services access in the aftermath of the Supreme Court ruling, claiming that the overturning of Roe v. Wade eliminated a woman\u2019s constitutional right to choose.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Biden signed the executive order as a hopeful preliminary step for pro-choice politicians to codify abortion through Congress.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cPresident Biden has made clear that the only way to secure a woman\u2019s right to choose is for Congress to restore the protections of Roe as federal law,\u201d the statement reads. \u201cUntil then, he has committed to doing everything in his power to defend reproductive rights and protect access to safe and legal abortion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden has also considered declaring a public health emergency to protect abortion access, prompting Senate Republicans to introduce legislation blocking the president from using executive authority.<\/p>\n<p>The Prohibiting Federal Emergencies for Abortion Act, introduced by Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), would prohibit the president and Health and Human Services from promoting, supporting, or expanding access to abortion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Biden and Democrats are hell-bent on preserving the practice of murdering unborn Americans,\u201d Rubio <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rubio.senate.gov\/public\/index.cfm\/2022\/6\/rubio-introduces-bill-to-block-biden-from-declaring-federal-emergencies-on-abortion\">said<\/a>. \u201cWe should be protecting the lives of innocent babies, not Planned Parenthood\u2019s ability to kill them.
