A spokesperson for the newspaper refuted the claim.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span>Fact Check:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rufo is a conservative activist and writer known for his reporting about critical race theory, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/news\/annals-of-inquiry\/how-a-conservative-activist-invented-the-conflict-over-critical-race-theory\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The New Yorker<\/a>. He has recently taken aim at what he sees as systemic \u201cgrooming\u201d in the public school system, The Washington Post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/investigations\/2022\/07\/24\/grooming-sex-ed-nebraska-judith-reisman\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>An image shared on Facebook claims The New York Times recently published an article about him titled, \u201cHe was one of the right\u2019s most outspoken leaders. Then he got sick.\u201d The article\u2019s subheadline reads, \u201cChristopher Rufo helped make critical race theory a conservative rallying cry. An unusual case of recurring \u2018superdiarrhea\u2019 put a sudden stop to his activism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The article is not genuine.
