Rand Paul, after being blacklisted by the Ukrainian government, told the Daily Caller that his \u201cloyalty\u201d remains with the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Paul was <a href=\"https:\/\/cpd.gov.ua\/reports\/%D1%81%D0%BF%D1%96%D0%BA%D0%B5%D1%80%D0%B8-%D1%8F%D0%BA%D1%96-%D0%BF%D1%80%D0%BE%D1%81%D1%83%D0%B2%D0%B0%D1%8E%D1%82%D1%8C-%D1%81%D0%BF%D1%96%D0%B2%D0%B7%D0%B2%D1%83%D1%87%D0%BD%D1%96-%D1%80%D0%BE\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">included<\/a> on a lengthy list of individuals accused by Ukraine of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/tulsi-gabbard-rand-paul-placed-list-russian-propagandists-ukraine-1727831\">spreading<\/a> \u201cRussian propaganda.\u201d Former Democratic Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard was another notable U.S. lawmaker that made the list. The two have been critical of U.S. aid to Ukraine, with Paul suggesting back in April that President Joe Biden \u2013 along with other past presidents \u2013 coaxed Russia into invading by <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/26\/rand-paul-antony-blinken-russia-ukraine-nato\/\">pushing<\/a> Ukraine to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).<\/p>\n<p>In a statement Tuesday, Paul told the Caller that he\u2019s \u201crepeatedly said\u201d his \u201csympathies lie with Ukraine,\u201d but appeared to stand by his past criticisms of the situation. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/13\/recipe-for-disaster-rand-paul-defends-blocking-ukraine-military-aid-package-takes-shot-at-john-mccain\/\">(RELATED:\u00a0\u2018Recipe For Disaster\u2019: Rand Paul Defends Blocking Ukraine Military Aid Package, Takes Shot At John McCain)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile I have repeatedly said my sympathies lie with Ukraine, my loyalty is to the United States,\u201d Paul said. \u201cMy oath of office obligates me to defend the United States and that includes defending our country from incurring massive new debt no matter how worthy the cause.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Paul delayed a $40 billion Ukraine aid package in May, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/12\/rand-paul-slows-down-ukraine-aid-package\/\">prompting<\/a> pushback from members of both parties. Paul argued at the time that \u201cwe cannot save Ukraine by dooming the U.S. economy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmericans are feeling the pain [from inflation], and Congress seems intent only on adding to that pain by shoveling more money out the door as fast as they can,\u201d Paul <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/news\/senate\/3486654-rand-paul-objection-delays-40-billion-ukraine-aid-package\/\">added<\/a>\u00a0in May.<\/p>\n<p>Although Paul has been critical of U.S. support given to Ukraine, he\u2019s noted that he supports the country\u2019s cause and is \u201cproud of how well the Ukrainians have fought,\u201d Yahoo <a href=\"https:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/ridiculous-rand-pauls-comments-russias-211011961.html?guccounter=1&#038;guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&#038;guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAGWPmVuuXJMQfCdMsgmcrOwSexTKXCqUATe2ti3tioPScUij0WW6ejMKD95WJEAE2-1LntcT63GRVV2Za3sOXriB-6VYq6NmYEkx_wJ40yYDVoqPypKIsVDYjCx5wPD4Nv1Bpe1TybZXNrlJv9AWfe3v72N1WwA36NcR3xRBpUwG\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a> in April. Greg Nash\/Pool via REUTERS<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Gabbard, another <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/23\/tulsi-gabbard-ukraine-joe-biden-vladimir-putin\/\">reproving<\/a> voice amid bipartisan support for America\u2019s continued aid to Ukraine, said in June that the Biden administration has failed to define what winning means in the Ukraine\u2013Russia war. She also pushed back on the $40 billion spending package.<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">\u201cYou know, Secretary Austin said in the past well we\u2019re doing this so that we can weaken Russia but really when you look at it this was always about going to war with Russia\u00a0with Ukraine as the proxy and that\u2019s exactly what\u2019s happening right now.
