And unfortunately, because of all kinds of electoral rules and some gerrymandering and things like that, Republicans overperform.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/27\/cnn-se-cupp-republican-party\/\">(RELATED: CNN Host, Without Evidence, Insists Republican Party Is Over)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>WATCH:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell of California claimed that Democrats were surging in the generic ballot due to issues like abortion and gun control earlier in the show.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is one troubling indicator, though, which remains to be true, which is a very surefire predictor on these things historically,\u201d Zakaria said. \u201cThe President\u2019s approval rating continues to be very bad. And of all the kind of indicators of the Presidents party\u2019s performance in a midterm, I don\u2019t think I\u2019m wrong in saying this: I think the single most surefire predictor is, what is the President\u2019s approval rating?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lemon said Biden\u2019s approval rating was \u201cnot very good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaybe the worst,\u201d Zakaria responded. \u201cI think tied with Donald Trump for being the worst ever.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>CNN <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/20\/cnn-asian-americans-joe-biden\/\">noted<\/a> that Asian-American voters are fleeing the Democrats in June. Some Republicans believe that <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/20\/asian-americans-bolting-democratic-party-nikki-haley-michelle-steel-xi-van-fleet-lily-tang-williams\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">discrimination<\/a> against Asian-American students in academic admissions for top schools like <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/08\/13\/justice-department-investigation-yale-racial-discrimination-asian-americans-white-applicants-civil-rights-violation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Yale<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/25\/thomas-jefferson-top-public-school-discriminated-asian-students-admissions-process-judge-rules\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology<\/a> is one of the issues driving the shift.<\/p>\n<p>In Texas, Republican Rep. Mayra Flores\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/14\/mayra-flores-wins-texas-district-democrats-carried-2020\/\">won<\/a> a special election that month in a district that is 85% Hispanic.
