It\u2019s amazing to have that kind of power and you deserve to have that agency.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In January 2020, Paltrow <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/watch-gwyneth-paltrow-says-this-smells-like-my-vagina-candle-is-pushback-against-women-being-body-shamed\/\">told<\/a> late-night host Seth Myers, \u201cIt sort of started as a joke. I was with \u2018the nose\u2019\u00a0Douglas Little for his brand Heretic and we were sort of messing around\u00a0and I smelled this beautiful thing and I was like, \u2018This smells like my vagina!\u2019 And I was kidding, obviously.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think women, a lot of us have grown up feeling certain degrees of shame around our body or whatever,\u201d Paltrow continued. \u201cSo this is just a little bit of, you know, a subversive candle for all of us out there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-editable=\"text\" data-uri=\"www.thecut.com\/_components\/clay-paragraph\/instances\/ck56v172c01w4y5yee18s9raf@published\" data-word-count=\"24\">According to <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2020\/01\/11\/gwyneth-paltrow-sells-candle-smells-like-vagina-many-questions-12040757\/\">Metro<\/a>, Goop\u00a0stated on its website that the smell of the candle \u201cevolved into a funny, gorgeous, sexy, and beautifully unexpected scent. (That turned out to be perfect as a candle \u2014 we did a test run \u2026 and it sold out within hours.) It\u2019s a blend of geranium, citrusy bergamot, and cedar absolutes juxtaposed with Damask rose and ambrette seed that puts us in mind of fantasy, seduction, and a sophisticated warmth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Paltrow segued from selling the \u201cThis Smells Like My Vagina\u201d candle to a candle called \u201cThis Smells Like My Orgasm.\u201d The Goop <a href=\"https:\/\/shop.goop.com\/shop\/products\/this-smells-like-my-orgasm-candle?variant_id=79362&#038;country=USA\">site<\/a>\u00a0wrote breathlessly, \u201cA fitting follow-up to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/shop.goop.com\/shop\/products\/this-smells-like-my-vagina-candle\"><em data-stringify-type=\"italic\">that<\/em>\u00a0candle<\/a> \u2014 you know the one \u2014 this one is made with tart grapefruit, neroli, and ripe cassis berries blended with gunpowder tea and Turkish rose absolute for a scent that\u2019s sexy, surprising, and wildly addictive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Paltrow <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/gwyneth-paltrow-reveals-shes-selling-candle-that-smells-like-her-orgasm-during-segment-with-son-appearance\/\">discussed the new candle<\/a> with late-night host Jimmy Fallon, boasting that the candle was covered with fireworks.
