However, with that support also comes public opposition.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2776\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2776\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2776\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/2022.07.25-04.58-themixnet-62decba4cfca1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1030\" height=\"541\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2776\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Manly Warringah Sea Eagles via NRL \u2013 National Rugby League YouTube<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Former rugby player Ian Roberts, who came out as gay while actively playing in the 1990\u2019s, was an outspoken advocate for the pride themed jerseys to be worn, and has also stated his opinion on the player\u2019s choice not to participate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI try to see it from all perspectives but this breaks my heart,\u201d said Roberts in an interview discussing the matter with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailytelegraph.com.au\/sport\/nrl\/nrl-2022-several-manly-sea-eagles-players-set-to-boycott-over-clubs-pride-jersey\/news-story\/b6f7789ac7ded01637190067e7f1cfee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Daily Telegraph<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s sad and uncomfortable. As an older gay man, this isn\u2019t unfamiliar. I did wonder whether there would be any religious pushback.
