The love of my life &#038; the most wonderful man who has ever lived is gone. I am heartbroken,\u201d his wife Dee Dee Sorvino wrote on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Brooklyn in 1939, Sorvino studied music and originally wanted to become an opera singer before he turned to acting. <\/p>\n<p>His long career included roles in Broadway play \u201cThat Championship Season\u201d and a 1982 film adaptation. Other movie credits included \u201cDick Tracy,\u201d \u201cNixon\u201d and \u201cReds.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sorvino was the father to three children, including actor Mira Sorvino, who thanked her father when she accepted her Academy Award for 1995 film \u201cMighty Aphrodite.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe has taught me everything I know about acting,\u201d she said at the time.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Mira Sorvino said \u201cmy heart is rent asunder\u201d by her father\u2019s death.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA life of love and joy and wisdom with him is over,\u201d she wrote on Twitter. \u201cHe was the most wonderful father. I love him so much.
