Hallie, who was in a tumultuous relationship with Hunter at the time, took Hunter&#8217;s gun from his car on Oct. 23, 2018, wrapped it in a shopping bag, and threw it in a trashcan outside a Janssen&#8217;s Market grocery store because she said she was scared for his life. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He was technically a victim of a theft of a firearm. But in Delaware, we don&#8217;t prosecute unless a victim is willing to pursue prosecution, so that incident was cleared out with no victim cooperation,&#8221; the source said. &#8220;Which means the victim does not want prosecution.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p><b><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/texts-reveal-hunter-biden-meltdown-discarded-gun-incident\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TEXTS REVEAL HUNTER BIDEN&#8217;S MELTDOWN OVER DISCARDED GUN INCIDENT<\/a><\/b> <\/p>\n<p>When reached for comment, the Delaware State Police referred the <i>Washington Examiner<\/i> to the Delaware Department of Justice, which did not return a request for comment. <\/p>\n<p>Hunter and Hallie did not return requests for comment. <\/p>\n<p>Federal prosecutors are <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/federal-investigation-hunter-biden-critical-point\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reportedly<\/a> weighing charges against Hunter for lying on the firearms transaction record he filled out when he purchased the gun 11 days before the incident, according to <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/07\/20\/politics\/hunter-biden-investigation-critical-juncture\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Hunter falsely answered, &#8220;No,&#8221; on the form when asked: &#8220;Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Hunter <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/hunter-biden-crack-cocaine-carpets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">detailed<\/a> his struggle with his addiction to crack cocaine in his memoir, <i>Beautiful Things<\/i>. So f*** you \u2026 What right do you f***ing have Hallie,&#8221; Hunter texted Hallie just hours after she discarded his gun. &#8220;There are 5 guns in dads house. There are f***ing more weapons in your sons room then in an armory.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Hunter added, &#8220;I\u2019m proven unstable when you put a gun in the trash can at Jansens out of FEAR. What fear. Hunter is either insane. Homicidal. Or just a ducking f*** up drug addict.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Hunter told Hallie the FBI and police wanted to question him about whether he had threatened Hallie with the gun. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe police and fbi still want to talk about whether I\u2019m threatening you,&#8221;
