Jason Crow (D-Colo.) said during a panel discussion in Colorado. \u201cYoung folks actually have very little expectation of privacy, that\u2019s what the polling and the data show.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople will very rapidly spit into a cup and send it to 23andMe and get really interesting data about their background,\u201d he added, making reference to a popular DNA testing and ancestry service.<\/p>\n<p>But governments can \u201cactually take someone\u2019s DNA \u2026 you know, their medical profile and you can target a biological weapon that will kill that person or take them off the battlefield or make them inoperable,\u201d Crow <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/07\/24\/rep-crow-warns-enemies-could-use-dna-tests-to-kill-americans\/\">added<\/a>, saying that companies such as\u00a023andMe can sell a person\u2019s DNA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd guess what? Their DNA is now owned by a private company. It can be sold off with very little intellectual property protection or privacy protection and we don\u2019t have legal and regulatory regimes to deal with that,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/intelligence-committee-members-warn-bioweapons-targeting-dna-individual-americans\">said<\/a> alongside Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), who is a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, at the\u00a0Aspen Security Forum on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Officials have to have a \u201cpublic discussion\u201d about the protection of DNA information, healthcare information, and related data as such data can \u201cbe procured and collected by our adversaries for the development of these systems,\u201d the congressman added, referring to biological weapons.<\/p>\n<p>The company previously denied selling private information, including DNA, of its customers.
