They said their experience providing medical care to both mothers and preborn babies strengthened their belief in the humanity of the unborn, even in the earliest stages of development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe only thing I don\u2019t provide my patients that someone who performs abortions would is elective abortions, meaning procedures that are intended to end the life of a fetal patient,\u201d Francis told the DCNF. \u201cOther than that I provide comprehensive care that leads to better health outcomes than elective abortions would.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Stark said being pro-life allowed her to offer a higher standard of care for pregnant women, adding that her patients appreciate that she treats both mother and child with respect and due diligence. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/07\/13\/analysis-media-abortion-narrative-nonsense\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: <\/a><\/strong><\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/07\/13\/analysis-media-abortion-narrative-nonsense\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Here\u2019s Why The Media\u2019s Abortion Narrative On IVF Is Total Nonsense)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce I began studying embryology it was clear that the point at which a new individual life has started is when egg and sperm join together at conception. That\u2019s a new genetic individual,\u201d Stark told the DCNF.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a problem with deciding that one individual at one stage is full human and deserving of human rights but that at another stage they\u2019re less than human,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p><span>Francis\u2019s pro-life beliefs have never prevented her from providing life-saving care, she explained, including the removal of ectopic pregnancies, in which the embryo has implanted outside the uterus and will never become a viable fetus, as well as emergency early deliveries resulting in fetal death. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>These pre-viability early deliveries are similar to induced abortions, but differ in that the child\u2019s death is not the intention of the procedure, Francis explained. She treats the baby as a patient, and rather than dismembering them in-utero as is done in surgical abortions, she delivers them, despite the reality that they will not survive for long outside the womb, she said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Fetuses can feel <a href=\"https:\/\/lozierinstitute.org\/the-acog-should-reconsider-fetal-pain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pain<\/a> at as early as 12 weeks\u2019 gestation, <a href=\"https:\/\/jme.bmj.com\/content\/46\/1\/3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according<\/a> to a 2020 study out of the University of Singapore. Francis makes every effort to reduce the suffering of fetal patients during pre-viability deliveries of pain-capable babies, in contrast to doctors who dismember them during surgical abortions, she explained.<\/p>\n<p><span>The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acog.org\/womens-health\/faqs\/induced-abortion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">defines<\/a> induced <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/07\/19\/colleges-universities-abortion-pills-mifepristone-misoprostol\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">abortion<\/a> as \u201can intervention to end a pregnancy so that it does not result in a live birth.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\ud83e\uddf5 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/acog?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@ACOG<\/a>\u2018s website defines induced abortion as \u201can intervention to end a pregnancy so that it does not result in a live birth\u201d, meaning its explicit intent is to kill the preborn child. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/XpiPtBbJ9e\">https:\/\/t.co\/XpiPtBbJ9e<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/pTw52YsLOc\">pic.twitter.com\/pTw52YsLOc<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 AAPLOG (@aaplog) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/aaplog\/status\/1549926438781853696?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 21, 2022<\/a> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>\u201cI\u2019m not alone in this. Even many OB physicians who would consider themselves pro-choice don\u2019t actually perform abortions,\u201d Francis said. \u201cWe know from surveys that have been done by pro-abortion researchers that anywhere from 76% to 93% of OBGYNs do not perform abortions.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The risk of death from induced abortions is about four times higher than the risk of death from childbirth, <a href=\"https:\/\/aaplog.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/FINAL-CO-6-Induced-Abortion-Increased-Risks-of-Maternal-Mortality.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according<\/a> to national medical data from Finland, which has universal health and data linkage. Th<span>is data is not available for the American healthcare system, according to the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The physicians also object to performing abortions because they view unborn children as patients and as people.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe science is exceedingly clear,\u201d Francis said. \u201cAs you do ultrasounds on women very early in their pregnancy, the humanity of their preborn child is exceedingly clear.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Stark said she provided healthcare to two patients, mother and child, and she couldn\u2019t understand how a doctor could fight to save the life of one preborn child while intentionally ending the life of another on the sole basis of whether they were wanted.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI couldn\u2019t do both. I couldn\u2019t be a good obstetrician and really work hard at preserving life and enhancing life for my patients and then callously take a life,\u201d Stark said. \u201cI couldn\u2019t see myself being a great advocate for babies if I simultaneously felt they didn\u2019t deserve life.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Stark emphasized that women didn\u2019t need abortion in order to succeed and live fulfilling lives, and she said she views women\u2019s fertility as a positive thing rather than a disease to be managed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWomen have this gift of fertility. It\u2019s an awesome thing.
