Abbott says the only \u201clie\u201d being told is by the Biden administration about a border crisis the administration created.<\/p>\n<p>Bowser told CBS News\u2019 Face the Nation that she\u2019d called on the federal government \u201cto work across state lines to prevent people from really being tricked into getting on buses\u201d whose final destination isn\u2019t Washington. Roughly 100 people a day are arriving and the city\u2019s homeless shelters are full, she said.<\/p>\n<p>The City Council also sent Bowser a letter requesting that she provide additional resources and ask the federal government for help.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe condemn these actions by Governors Abbott and [Arizona Gov. Doug] Ducey, who have demonstrated no regard for people who are exercising their human right to seek asylum. The District, on the other hand, has a history of serving all residents who settle here, regardless of immigration status,\u201d the city council members wrote.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201csanctuary city\u201d of Washington is a welcoming place, Bowser said, \u201cbecause we know that our neighborhoods are safer and stronger when no one is afraid to call on our government for help.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Because many illegal immigrants being released into the United States have shown they have no way to support themselves, once they arrive to the U.S. capital, they are finding limited assistance.<\/p>\n<p>One humanitarian aid worker told CNBC News: \u201cWe do not have the ability to sustain this.
