Bailey is facing off against\u00a0Republican candidate Burt Jones, who was informed by the Fulton County DA\u2019s office that he\u2019s being investigated as part of their probe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know that it\u2019s an actual conflict, but \u2026 it\u2019s a \u2018what are you thinking\u2019 moment,\u201d McBurney told Willis, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ajc.com\/news\/fulton-judge-alternate-gop-electors-must-honor-subpoenas-to-testify\/HY4V6K5YRRCQ7NGWI5KQCPUOYI\/\">according<\/a> to local media. \u201cIf we\u2019re trying to maintain confidence that this investigation is pursuing facts in a nonpartisan sense \u2026 that strikes me as problematic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He told her that her appearance is \u201cnot a lowercase \u2018a\u2019 appearance. It\u2019s like a capital \u2018A\u2019 with flashy lights fundraiser with the district attorney for the political opponent of someone I\u2019ve named a target of my investigation, where I\u2019m the legal adviser to the grand jury, and I\u2019m on national media almost nightly talking about this investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s problematic,\u201d the judge continued. However, he stopped short of ruling to remove her from the inquiry.<\/p>\n<p> What the Lawyers Say <\/p>\n<p>Anna Green Cross, a lawyer representing the Fulton County DA\u2019s office, said that the fundraiser was held while Bailey was still competing in a Democratic runoff election, and it was not clear which candidate would face Jones.
