In a press conference Wednesday, officials highlighted 160 instances of extra judicial killings, 56 incidents of torture or ill treatment and more than 170 subjective or arbitrary arrests.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">While the de facto authorities have taken some steps aimed at improving the human rights situation, the report documents a range of human rights violations \u2014 arbitrary arrests, detentions, torture, excessive use of force &#038; extrajudicial killings. <br \/>Report: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/o4rcmtIbpW\">https:\/\/t.co\/o4rcmtIbpW<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Gjqa10Efi7\">pic.twitter.com\/Gjqa10Efi7<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 UNAMA News (@UNAMAnews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/UNAMAnews\/status\/1549643540015235073?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 20, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Officials from the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) also criticized the treatment of women under Taliban rule, asserting many of their rights had been stripped or deferred.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201cUNAMA\u2019s report highlights concerns, concerns with regard to ongoing extrajudicial killings, arbitrary arrests and detentions, torture and ill-treatment, denial of women and girls\u2019 rights to participate in many aspects of daily and public life,\u201d stated Markus Potzel, acting head of UNAMA. \u201cRestrictions on the media and civic space and the situation in place of detention.\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\u201cRelegating women and girls to the home denies <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Afghanistan?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Afghanistan<\/a> the benefit of the significant contributions they have to offer.
