The review conducted by University College London and published in <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41380-022-01661-0\">Molecular Psychiatry<\/a>, <\/em>found that antidepressants, a $15 billion a year <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/opioid-drug-company-executives-mocked-addiction-with-hillbilly-slang\/\">industry<\/a> that is set to grow to $21 billion per year in the next decade, may be ineffective at treating depression. <\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-f313b7e6=\"\">\n<p>Most antidepressants are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), which for years have been said to work by correcting abnormally low serotonin levels. 85-90 percent of the public believes that depression is caused by low serotonin or a chemical imbalance, according to the researchers.
