Vance \u201cwants to defund law enforcement\u201d by eliminating the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.<\/p>\n<p>Yet it was Vance who received an endorsement from the Ohio Fraternal Order of Police this week.<\/p>\n<p>Ryan, a 10-term Congressman from northeast Ohio, portrayed himself as a supporter of law enforcement\u2014and Vance as a candidate who does not\u2014in an ad featuring Stark County Sheriff George Maier.<\/p>\n<p>Dressed in uniform and standing in front of a squad car, Maier looked in the camera and said that it makes him angry when Vance \u201ccalls law enforcement corrupt\u201d and \u201cthat makes my job harder. So does J.D.\u2019s plan to eliminate an agency that combats violent drug offenders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After Maier\u2019s comments, a message appears on screen that says, \u201cJ.D. Vance wants to defund law enforcement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The spot also cited a Feb. 1, 2022 tweet from Vance when he wrote he would \u201cfight to abolish the ATF,\u201d which is a federal law enforcement agency that is part of the U.S. Department of Justice.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/rep-tim-ryan-2-1200x798-1200x798-1.jpg\"><\/a> Rep. He\u2019s brought back $467 million to put good cops on the street.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Vance, who is endorsed by former president <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-donald-trump\">Donald Trump<\/a> and won the Republican nomination amid a heated primary with seven candidates on May 3, has said multiple times that he wants to terminate the ATF.<\/p>\n<p>Though Ryan is projecting a pro-police stance as part of his platform, he had harsh words for the criminal justice system in<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a television ad last month, Ohio U.S. Rep. and Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Tim Ryan claimed that his opponent, Republican venture capitalist J.D.
