Ilhan Omar from Congress.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span>Verdict: False<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There is no evidence to suggest Omar has been expelled from Congress.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span>Fact Check:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Omar was one of 16 members of Congress who were arrested during a pro-abortion protest Tuesday afternoon outside of the Supreme Court, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/reps-omar-adams-arrested-abortion-protest-supreme-court\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fox News<\/a>. She is set to face community activist Don Samuels in Minnesota\u2019s upcoming Aug. 9 primary elections, CBS News reported.<\/p>\n<p>The Facebook video, viewed over 749,000 times, features footage of what appears to be six Minnesota state legislators, one of whom is speaking at a podium. The man speaking announces the group is requesting the IRS and the Minnesota Department of Revenue to review Omar\u2019s tax filings, claiming there were \u201cviolations of so many laws.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFinally! House Democrats Kicks Ilhan Omar From Congress,\u201d the post\u2019s caption states. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2020\/01\/17\/fact-check-ilhan-omar-threatened-republican-shawarma\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Viral Meme Claims Ilhan Omar \u2018Threatened\u2019 To Send Shawarma To Republican Members Of Congress)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The claim is baseless. Check Your Fact found no <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=ilhan+omar+removal+from+congress&#038;oq=ilhan+omar+removal+from+congress&#038;aqs=chrome..69i57.6056j0j4&#038;sourceid=chrome&#038;ie=UTF-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">credible news reporting<\/a> to suggest that Omar is being removed from Congress. She is still listed on the House\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/clerk.house.gov\/members\/O000173\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a> as well as the House Democrat\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dems.gov\/who-we-are\/our-members\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a>. Her verified <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/IlhanMN\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twitter account<\/a> makes no mention of her being removed from office.<\/p>\n<p>The footage featured in the Facebook post is from an August 2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/watch\/?v=589960738200524\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">live-streamed<\/a> press conference in which Republican Minnesota State Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.house.leg.state.mn.us\/members\/profile\/15286\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Steve Drazkowski<\/a>\u00a0called for an investigation into Omar\u2019s \u201cillegal tax filing status and possible improper tax deductions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alabama Republicans sought to expel Omar in 2019 over comments she made about Israel that some alleged were anti-Semitic, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2019\/08\/27\/alabama-gop-rep-ilhan-omar-expulsion-congress\/2135327001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">USA Today<\/a>. Republican lawmakers also sought to remove her from her committee assignments in February 2021 in response to Democratic efforts to remove Republican Georgia Rep.
