The group followed up in April demanding records on security for Hunter dating back to President Joe Biden\u2019s inauguration after receiving no documents.<\/p>\n<p>While the Secret Service told Judicial Watch it located responsive records on April 19, none have been provided, according to the watchdog \u2014 which filed its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/JW.-v.-DHS-Hunter-Biden-travel-complaint-02097.pdf\">suit<\/a> on Sunday.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/04\/hunter-biden-malibu-beach-house-secret-service-taxes\/\"><strong>(RELATED: REPORT: Amid Tax Troubles, Hunter Biden Is Living In A Malibu Mansion With Secret Service Protection)<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s important that the American people have accountability,\u201d Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, told the Daily Caller News Foundation. \u201cThe Secret Service has been unusually secretive about this and that\u2019s why we\u2019re in court.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a significant public interest in his travels given the alleged criminality tied to them,\u201d Fitton added.<\/p>\n<p>Judicial Watch also specifically asked DHS for records related to any and all security services for Hunter Biden and his \u201ccompanions\u201d in Malibu, California, from Jan. 20, 2021 to present, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n<p>Taxpayers footed a $30,000 monthly bill for Secret Service to stay in a Malibu mansion near an apartment Hunter spent $20,000 per month for, as of an ABC <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/04\/hunter-biden-malibu-beach-house-secret-service-taxes\/\">report<\/a> in April. (Photo by Rob Carr\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The lawsuit comes after a report Wednesday that the Justice Department (DOJ) is <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/07\/20\/doj-considering-charges-hunter-biden\/\">mulling<\/a> charges against Hunter in connection to a federal probe into the Biden son\u2019s business activities. The DOJ has reportedly shifted the focus of its investigation from possible money laundering and campaign finance law violations to alleged tax violations and Hunter\u2019s involvement in a gun <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/03\/29\/hunter-bidens-involvement-in-firearm-incident-raises-important-legal-questions\/\">incident<\/a> in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlaintiff is being irreparably harmed by Defendant\u2019s violation of FOIA, and Plaintiff will continue to be irreparably harmed unless Defendant is compelled to comply with the law,\u201d Judicial Watch said in its complaint. \u201cPlaintiff has no adequate remedy at law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hunter\u2019s lawyers Chris Clark and George Mesires did not respond to the DCNF\u2019s request for comment, nor did the DHS.<\/p>\n<p>Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience.
