{"id":1564312,"date":"2022-07-21T07:28:04","date_gmt":"2022-07-21T11:28:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/?p=1564312"},"modified":"2022-07-21T09:04:27","modified_gmt":"2022-07-21T13:04:27","slug":"top-scientists-alarmed-and-embarrassed-by-agencies-failure-to-follow-science-on-covid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/top-scientists-alarmed-and-embarrassed-by-agencies-failure-to-follow-science-on-covid\/","title":{"rendered":"Top Scientists Alarmed and Embarrassed by Agencies\u2019 Failure to Follow Science on COVID"},"content":{"rendered":"<aside class=\"mashsb-container mashsb-main mashsb-stretched\"><div class=\"mashsb-box\"><div class=\"mashsb-count mash-medium\" style=\"&quot;\"><div class=\"counts mashsbcount\">26<\/div><span class=\"mashsb-sharetext\">SHARES<\/span><\/div><div class=\"mashsb-buttons\"><a class=\"mashicon-facebook mash-medium mash-nomargin mashsb-noshadow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/sharer.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.conservativenewsdaily.net%2Fbreaking-news%2Ftop-scientists-alarmed-and-embarrassed-by-agencies-failure-to-follow-science-on-covid%2F\" target=\"_top\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span class=\"icon\"><\/span><span class=\"text\">Facebook<\/span><\/a><a class=\"mashicon-twitter mash-medium mash-nomargin mashsb-noshadow\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/intent\/tweet?text=&amp;url=https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/?p=1564312&amp;via=ConservNewsDly\" target=\"_top\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span class=\"icon\"><\/span><span class=\"text\">Twitter<\/span><\/a><a class=\"mashicon-subscribe mash-medium mash-nomargin mashsb-noshadow\" href=\"#\" target=\"_top\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span class=\"icon\"><\/span><span class=\"text\">Subscribe<\/span><\/a><div class=\"onoffswitch2 mash-medium mashsb-noshadow\" style=\"display:none\"><\/div><\/div>\n            <\/div>\n                <div style=\"clear:both\"><\/div><\/aside>\n            <!-- Share buttons by mashshare.net - Version: 4.0.47--><div><\/div>\n<p>Top doctors and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-scientists\">scientists<\/a> at the leading U.S. public health agencies are \u201cfrustrated, exasperated and alarmed\u201d about the direction of the agencies they work for, according to the authors of a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commonsense.news\/p\/us-public-health-agencies-arent-following\">Substack post<\/a>\u00a0published last week.<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019re also embarrassed \u2014 about \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender\/media-turns-bad-science-news\/\">bad science<\/a>.\u201d And many are leaving.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s like a horror movie I\u2019m being forced to watch and I can\u2019t close my eyes,\u201d said one senior official with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-fda\">FDA<\/a>). \u201cPeople are getting bad advice and we can\u2019t say anything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The comment was one of many culled from calls and text messages between officials and the article\u2019s co-authors,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hopkinsmedicine.org\/profiles\/details\/martin-makary\">Marty Makary<\/a>\u00a0M.D., M.P.H., and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.norcalorthoassociates.com\/team\/hoeg.php\">Tracy Beth H\u00f8eg<\/a>\u00a0M.D., Ph.D.<\/p>\n<p>Makary and H\u00f8eg said the officials who spoke to them agreed to be quoted \u2014 but only anonymously, for fear of professional repercussions.<\/p>\n<p>The National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-cdc\">CDC<\/a>) are plagued with \u201clow morale\u201d and \u201chigh turnover,\u201d officials told Makary and H\u00f8eg.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the NIH, doctors and scientists complain to us about low morale and lower staffing: The NIH\u2019s Vaccine Research Center has had many of its senior scientists leave over the last year, including the director, deputy director and chief medical officer,\u201d they wrote.<\/p>\n<p>And it\u2019s no better at the CDC, they said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe CDC has experienced a similar exodus. \u2018There\u2019s been a large amount of turnover. Morale is low,\u2019 one high-level official at the CDC told us. \u2018Things have become so political, so what are we there for?\u2019 Another CDC scientist told us: \u2018I used to be proud to tell people I work at the CDC. Now I\u2019m embarrassed.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Officials complained the heads of their agencies \u201care using weak or flawed data to make critically important public health decisions, that such decisions are being driven by what\u2019s politically palatable to people in Washington or to the Biden administration and that they have a myopic focus on one virus instead of overall health.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One CDC scientist told Makary and H\u00f8eg about the shame and frustration within the agency over what happened to U.S. children during the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>The scientist said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCDC failed to balance the risks of COVID with other risks that come from closing schools. Learning loss, mental health exacerbations were obvious early on and those worsened as the guidance insisted on keeping schools virtual. CDC guidance worsened racial equity for generations to come. It failed this generation of children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The CDC also ignored\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender\/cdc-natural-immunity-trumps-vaccine-immunity\/\">natural immunity<\/a>, according to some officials who declined to be named. \u201cThe vast majority of children have already had COVID, but this has made no difference in the blanket mandates for childhood vaccines.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>By mandating \u201cvaccines and boosters for young healthy people, with no strong supporting data, these agencies are only further eroding public trust,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commonsense.news\/p\/us-public-health-agencies-arent-following\">they added<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t tell you how many people at the FDA have told me, \u2018I don\u2019t like any of this, but I just need to make it to my retirement,\u2019\u201d one official told Makary and H\u00f8eg.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the revelations, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/\">Children\u2019s Health Defense<\/a>\u00a0chairman and chief legal counsel, told The Defender, \u201cThe 33-year devolution of NIH from the world\u2019s premier bio research agency into\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender_category\/big-pharma\/\">Big Pharma\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0servile marketing subsidiary has been an excruciating downfall for NIH\u2019s dwindling cohort of researchers and scientists of integrity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kennedy added:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender_category\/covid\/\">COVID-19<\/a>\u00a0catastrophe exposed to the world that NIH no longer does science or public health and confronted remaining employees with the dilemma that working at NIH means living against conscience. The current exodus captures the last remaining NIH officials who still have one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Makary and H\u00f8eg said it\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commonsense.news\/p\/us-public-health-agencies-arent-following\">statistically impossible<\/a>\u00a0for everyone who works inside U.S. health agencies to have 100% agreement about \u201csuch a new and knotty subject.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fact that there is no public dissent or debate can only be explained by the fact that they are \u2014 or at least feel that they are \u2014 being muzzled,\u201d they wrote. \u201cIt is an ancient, moral requirement of our profession to speak up when we believe questionable treatments are being proposed. It is also good for the public.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe leaders of the CDC, the FDA and the NIH should welcome internal discussion \u2014 even dissension \u2014 based on the evidence,\u201d they wrote. \u201cSilencing physicians is not \u2018following the science.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Makary: COVID Vaccines for Kids at Center of Controversy<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/health\/article-11015235\/Health-experts-quitting-NIH-CDC-droves-embarrassed-bad-science.html\">Daily Mail reported<\/a>\u00a0on Makary and H\u00f8eg\u2019s substack post \u2014 which also caught the attention of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/video.foxnews.com\/v\/6309644249112#sp=show-clips\">Fox &#038; Friends<\/a>\u201d and Fox News\u2019\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/video.foxnews.com\/v\/6309557805112#sp=show-clips\">Tucker Carlson<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In a July 17 interview on \u201cFox &#038; Friends,\u201d Makary said senior officials \u2014 including all three leaders of the vaccine research center at the NIH and top experts at the FDA \u2014 are leaving because they see problems with the data and are frustrated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe top two vaccine experts at the FDA [in September 2021]\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender\/2-top-fda-regulators-resign-white-house-approve-boosters\/\">quit in protest<\/a>\u00a0over political interference, and many people at the CDC told me that people are getting bad advice and we can\u2019t say anything,\u201d he said. \u201cThey\u2019re not allowed to go to the media, and at the center of it is the treatment of children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><noscript>Watch the latest video at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\">foxnews.com<\/a><\/noscript><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/video.foxnews.com\/v\/6309644249112#sp=show-clips\">Fox &#038; Friends<\/a>\u201d co-host Pete Hegseth brought up an example Makary\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commonsense.news\/p\/us-public-health-agencies-arent-following\">cited in his article<\/a>\u00a0on the treatment of children:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the subgroup of children aged six months to two years, the [Pfizer] trial found that the vaccine could result in a 99% lower chance of infection \u2014\u00a0 but that they also could have a 370% increased chance of being infected.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn other words, Pfizer\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/media\/159193\/download\">reported<\/a>\u00a0a range of vaccine efficacy so wide that no conclusion could be inferred. No reputable medical journal would accept such sloppy and incomplete results with such a small sample size. More to the point, these results should have given pause to those who are in charge of public health.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yet, without that clinical data, they\u2019re still \u201cpushing vaccines for infants and toddlers, for people who already had COVID and boosters for young children,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/video.foxnews.com\/v\/6309644249112#sp=show-clips\">Hegseth said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s right. And parents are not falling for it after nearly a month of the government heavily pushing vaccines in kids under 5,\u201d Makary said. \u201cOnly 3% of parents have chosen to get their kids under 5 vaccinated. More parents believe in UFOs I think.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said \u201cpeople are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/covid-science-health-centers-for-disease-control-and-prevention-rochelle-walensky-222bc528985a897c2a2d6173cd3659a9\">eager to get their kids vaccinated<\/a>,\u201d but this is not the case,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/video.foxnews.com\/v\/6309644249112\/#sp=show-clips\">Makary told Hegseth<\/a>. Because the \u201cvaccine trial in kids under 5 failed\u201d \u2014 the \u201cstudy was done and it showed no benefit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Makary said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow why are we even doing clinical trials if when you get a negative result showing it has no benefit, they\u2019re approving it anyway? You\u2019re making a mockery of the process. This is what people within the agencies are very frustrated about. This is why they\u2019re leaving.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cModerna\u2019s vaccine had a 4% efficacy and Pfizer, the results were so bad with no statistical significance that one of the internal people within the CDC said that you can inject a child with the vaccine or squirt it in their face and you\u2019ll get the same benefit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the CDC wants to win some respect back, apologize and show some humility and less absolutism,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>In their\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commonsense.news\/p\/us-public-health-agencies-arent-following\">article<\/a>, Makary and H\u00f8eg said there\u2019s also an issue of how long a COVID-19 vaccine gives protection, as data in adults show that protection wanes in \u201ca matter of months\u201d and there\u2019s \u201cno such data for young children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt seems criminal that we put out the recommendation to give mRNA Covid vaccines to babies without good data,\u201d a CDC physician told Makary. \u201cWe really don\u2019t know what the risks are yet. So why push it so hard?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe public has no idea how bad this data really is,\u201d a high-level FDA official told Makary and H\u00f8eg. \u201cIt would not pass muster for any other authorization.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd yet, the FDA and the CDC pushed it through,\u201d Makary and H\u00f8eg wrote. That \u201cslap in the face of science may explain why only 40% of parents in rural areas say their pediatricians\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kff.org\/coronavirus-covid-19\/poll-finding\/kff-covid-19-vaccine-monitor-winter-2021-update-on-parents-views-of-vaccines\/\">did not recommend<\/a>\u00a0the Covid vaccine for their child.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><strong>White House Calling the Shots<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In a July 15\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/video.foxnews.com\/v\/6309557805112#sp=show-clips\">interview with Tucker Carlson<\/a>, Makary said doctors everywhere in the world, even in the government, should \u201calways be free to speak up about their public health concerns.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yet, right now in the government, \u201cdoctors are muzzled.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI talked to many doctors for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commonsense.news\/p\/us-public-health-agencies-arent-following\">this piece<\/a>, at NIH and CDC, who are extremely frustrated,\u201d Makary told Carlson. \u201cThey\u2019re smart people. They know vaccine efficacy of 4% doesn\u2019t warrant authorization. They also know there\u2019s no\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/07\/15\/health\/covid-public-health-emergency-extended\/index.html\">health emergency<\/a>\u00a0right now among kids six months of age.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Makary said he learned a lot from interviewing anonymous top officials, and they\u2019re being silenced:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey know the underlying data. They know it\u2019s inappropriate. They\u2019re not allowed to speak to anyone. If a reporter calls, the communications office has to approve the conversation and if they want to ask the scientist whether or not they want to do this. Tell us what you\u2019re going to tell the reporter and then we\u2019ll decide whether or not to approve it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the CDC, a bunch of scientists actually said \u2018look we recognize the insanity of mass testing \u2014 trying to take down every case of the virus in the United States,\u2019\u201d Makary told Carlson. \u201cSo they came up with a plan to use sampling data like we do with influenza every year to get better numbers from the hospital of those truly in there for COVID, not just everybody with incidental COVID tests.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Makary said he was told by top officials the plan was \u201crejected by the White House.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI heard from smart people who were just extremely frustrated that not only are they bypassing the normal scientific process, you really can\u2019t say anything because if they do, they know their jobs are at risk and they\u2019ll be treated very differently,\u201d Makary\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/video.foxnews.com\/v\/6309557805112#sp=show-clips\">told<\/a>\u00a0Carlson.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne person said there\u2019s no transparency as to how\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Real-Anthony-Fauci-Democracy-Childrens\/dp\/1510766804\">Dr. [Anthony] Fauci<\/a>\u00a0makes his decisions, he doesn\u2019t even consult with the real experts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/healthpolicy.fsi.stanford.edu\/people\/jay_bhattacharya\">Dr. Jay Bhattacharya<\/a>, professor of Medicine at Stanford University and a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, praised the \u201cblockbuster article\u201d that confirmed scientists are being subject to tremendous political pressure to distort COVID-19 science and vaccine recommendations.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">An absolute blockbuster article by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TracyBethHoeg?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@TracyBethHoeg<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MartyMakary?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@MartyMakary<\/a>. Gross regulatory misconduct.  FDA needs immediate oversight and ordered to retract EUA approval.
