The New Jersey State Police denied the rumor.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span>Fact Check:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Facebook image, shared over 280 times, shows a sheet of paper titled \u201cTraveling in New Jersey.\u201d The sheet, sourced to the\u00a0radio station <a href=\"https:\/\/nj1015.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New Jersey 101.5<\/a>, states that 50 state troopers will be patrolling various New Jersey highways at all times for 30 days starting on July 28 with a mission to hand out a speeding ticket every 10 to 20 minutes in an effort to raise $9 million in revenue for the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStarting August 15, the price of a violation to show your driver\u2019s license, registration, or insurance card at the time you are stopped, increased from $44.00 to $173.00,\u201d reads the letter. It also states that not having any of the three documents would result in a $519 fine and using a hand-held cell phone while driving would result in a $180 fine.<\/p>\n<p>These claims are false. There are no announcements about the alleged \u201cspeeding ticket frenzy\u201d on the New Jersey State Police <a href=\"https:\/\/nj.gov\/njsp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a> or on the New Jersey 101.5 <a href=\"https:\/\/nj1015.com\/search\/?s=speeding%20ticket\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a>. Patrick Callahan told <a href=\"https:\/\/nj1015.com\/nj-state-police-boss-no-blitz-fines-for-speeding-wont-change\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New Jersey 101.5<\/a> in 2020 that using ticket quotas to increase the enforcement of speed limits was illegal. He recently <a href=\"https:\/\/newjersey.news12.com\/state-police-confirm-there-is-no-speeding-ticket-blitz-fines-to-remain-the-same?fbclid=IwAR3DMwv6ljg95fwlq19cSrL80GRa3VJLXZlasUsdug4ys40aVNCJdJS22to\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">told<\/a> News 12 New Jersey that the viral claim shared on Facebook is fake.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI see periodically that social media post put out. And it is fictitious,\u201d Callahan told News 12 New Jersey. \u201cOur troopers are out there 24\/7 enforcing traffic laws.
