Along with Taiwan, the speaker has planned a delegation to Japan, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia in August, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/09669099-1565-4723-86c9-84e0ca465825\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Financial Times<\/a> reported, citing anonymous sources. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/13\/taiwan-josh-hawley-china\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: \u2018We Must Arm Taiwan\u2019: Hawley Spearheads Effort To Thwart Chinese Aggression)<\/a> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Chinese government <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/09669099-1565-4723-86c9-84e0ca465825\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">encouraged<\/a> U.S. officials to refrain from any actions construed as showing support for Taiwan\u2019s independence from <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/11\/as-the-world-fractures-chinas-threats-about-taiwan-could-not-be-any-clearer-xi-jinping\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">China<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the United States insists on going ahead, China will have to take firm and forceful measures to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity,\u201d Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/news\/world\/china-says-it-will-take-forceful-measures-if-pelosi-visits-taiwan\/ar-AAZJOFC\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according<\/a> to a Washington Post translation. He warned the trip would \u201cseriously impact the political foundations of China-U.S. relations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Taiwan\u2019s Foreign Ministry has not been notified of a confirmed visit by Pelosi, the Post reported.<\/p>\n<p>Pelosi would be the first House speaker to visit the country in 25 years, though her office said it does not \u201cconfirm or deny international travel in advance due to long-standing security protocols,\u201d according to the Post.<\/p>\n<p>The Chinese government has threatened to use force to take control of Taiwan through the use of \u201creunification,\u201d the Post reported. The U.S. has historically not taken a stance on Taiwan\u2019s sovereignty, though the president <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/28\/joe-biden-sends-team-taiwan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sent<\/a> an unofficial delegation to the island after Russia\u2019s invasion of Ukraine to demonstrate their \u201crobust support.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The war in Ukraine has influenced Taiwan to take additional steps to prepare for a potential attack by the Chinese government. Members of Congress have expressed support for U.S. intervention in the event of a Chinese invasion of Taiwan.
