A spokesperson for the Alzheimer\u2019s Association of America, which publishes Alzheimer\u2019s TODAY, denied that the magazine published such a story.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Biden has repeatedly been criticized by some Republicans who allege that at 79 years old he no longer has the mental fitness to be president, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/theweek.com\/feature\/briefing\/1015081\/biden-age-and-mental-state\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Week<\/a>. Now, an image shared on Facebook claims the president has been featured on the cover of Alzheimer\u2019s TODAY, a magazine produced by the <a href=\"https:\/\/alzfdn.org\/media-center\/alztoday\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alzheimer\u2019s Foundation of America<\/a> (AFA). The image shows Biden holding a banana up to his face and features text that labels him the magazine\u2019s \u201cPatient of the Year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The cover is digitally fabricated. A <a href=\"https:\/\/alzfdn.org\/media-center\/alztoday\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">search<\/a> of the AFA\u2019s online Alzheimer\u2019s TODAY magazine archive does not show any results for the alleged cover. The purported cover also does not appear on the AFA\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/AlzheimersFoundationofAmerica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Facebook, <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/alzfdn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twitter<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/alzfdn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Instagram<\/a> pages. In addition, there are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=alzheimer%27s+today+joe+biden+patient+of+the+year+volume+23+number+4&#038;oq=alzheimer%27s+today+joe+biden+patient+of+the+year+volume+23+number+4&#038;aqs=chrome..69i57.2666j0j7&#038;sourceid=chrome&#038;ie=UTF-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">no credible news reports<\/a> suggesting the organization published a cover featuring Biden. Check Your Fact found no evidence that Biden has ever been featured on the cover of Alzheimer\u2019s TODAY. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2022\/06\/10\/fact-check-biden-harris-not-resigned\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: FACT CHECK: No, Joe Biden And Kamala Harris Have Not Resigned)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis photo is completely false and misleading and we are appalled by this unauthorized use of our trademarked publication designed to help families affected by Alzheimer\u2019s disease for reasons that are not consistent with our stated goals,\u201d said Sandy Silverstein, a spokesperson for the Alzheimer\u2019s Foundation of America, in an email to Check Your Fact. \u201cWe strongly urge that Facebook immediately remove this content from its social media platform pursuant to its \u2018Community Standard,\u2019 on \u2018Misinformation\u2019 or \u2018Manipulated Media.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is not the first time a fake magazine cover has circulated on the internet.
