China building coal plants just hand over fist and emitting and not really helping our efforts whatsoever. When wind and solar won\u2019t power the homes in Europe, how do we not use hydrocarbons to make sure that near-term these people aren\u2019t either freezing or dying from the heat?\u201d Kernen asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNobody thinks that you can make this change overnight, but also there\u2019s a clear understanding when it comes to the climate, we\u2019re running out of time, the science is unambiguous in terms of the level of threat, in terms of the lives and livelihoods that America and the world stand to lose if we don\u2019t accelerate our action. And I don\u2019t think we should be following the lead of India and China,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/30\/buttigieg-starts-1-billion-first-of-its-kind-anti-racist-roads-project\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Buttigieg<\/a> said. \u201cI think countries like India and China should be challenged to follow the lead of the United States leading the way on climate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut the reality set- the reality may set in in Europe and we may see the downside \u2026 do you think we\u2019re going to be able to change the climate?\u201d Kernen interjected. <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/07\/20\/pete-buttigieg-gas-prices-green-energy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>(RELATED: \u2018The More Pain\u2019: Buttigieg Says High Gas Prices Will Incentivize People To Go Green)<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/16\/biden-inflation-cnbc-squawk-box-andrew-ross-sorkin-pete-buttigieg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">duo<\/a> then had a back-and-forth about whether changes now could make a difference within the next decade in regards to climate change, with Kernen saying even if climate change does threaten life, people still need coal to heat their homes and carry on with their lives.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/07\/08\/biden-admin-unveils-plan-track-and-reduce-co2-emissions-from-cars-driving-highways\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Biden administration<\/a> has been pushing new regulations that would require states track their greenhouse gas emissions and would set declining emission targets for cars on the highway.
