Authorities said the chopper ran into bad weather.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe missing aircraft was found by a passing helicopter on the afternoon of July 17 near the Semyachik pass, 13 kilometers from the Uzon volcano,\u201d the Russian Emergencies Ministry <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/sport\/559166-russian-biathlete-igor-malinovsky-dies-helicopter-crash\/\">said in a statement<\/a>. \u201cUnfortunately, no one survived the crash.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>European news reports say the wreckage and three mangled bodies were recovered near Kamchatka, Newsweek <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/bears-eat-wealthy-couple-pilot-helicopter-crash-wilderness-1725875\">reported<\/a> Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Malinovsky, just 25 years old and a\u00a0five-time world junior biathlon champion, reportedly lost communication due to the bad weather conditions shortly before the chopper crashed. Russian media said Malinovsky was from the Kamchatka region.<\/p>\n<p>What happened after the helicopter crashed is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailystar.co.uk\/news\/world-news\/tourists-die-horror-helicopter-crash-27508942\">unclear.<\/a>\u00a0The victims may have survived the fiery crash, but by the time rescuers arrived, all three bodies had been dragged, mauled, and eaten by wild bears.<\/p>\n<p>The tour was a private flight, and the group was not registered as tourists, Vladimir Solodov, governor of the Kamchatka region <a href=\"https:\/\/english.pravda.ru\/news\/society\/153086-igor_malinovsky\/\">told Pravda<\/a>. The Robinson helicopter belonged to Vladimir Malinovsky, the pilot\u2019s father.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMultiple world junior champion\u00a0Igor Malinovsky has died,\u201d the Russian Biathlon Association said in\u00a0a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biathlonrus.com\/news\/ne-stalo-igorya-malinovskogo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a>. \u201cHe loved biathlon and aviation. After completing his sports career, Igor became a pilot and worked in his native Kamchatka.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bears rarely attack humans unprovoked, but are ravenous scavengers. Just last month, a couple in India was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/bear-attack-india-killed-eaten-1713098\">reportedly<\/a> killed by a sloth bear which gorged on their bodies for hours.<\/p>\n<p>The couple was walking on a nature reserve when they encountered the bear less than a mile outside their home. The animal reportedly\u00a0\u201ctore their bodies apart\u201d and ate their remains for at least four hours.<\/p>\n<p>In another instance, a dying bear <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailystar.co.uk\/news\/world-news\/brown-bear-mauls-hunter-death-27289892\">reportedly<\/a> mauled and killed a hunter who tried to take down the animal in Russia.<\/p>\n<p>According to the U.K.\u2019s Daily Star, the hunter apparently thought he had successfully killed the bear, but the bear was still alive.
