Ron DeSantis in Michigan.<\/p>\n<p>The WDIV\/Detroit News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clickondetroit.com\/decision-2022\/2022\/07\/19\/poll-where-michigan-republicans-stand-on-trump-running-again-desantis-2020-election-claims\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">survey<\/a> found that 45.2% favor Trump and 41.6% support DeSantis. The Florida governor garnered a stronger lead among college-educated voters, while Trump largely appeals to those with no more than a high school diploma.<\/p>\n<p>Among \u201cTrump Republicans,\u201d the former president holds a strong lead with 70%-21% against DeSantis, while the \u201cclassic\u201d Republicans favor the governor by 53%-32%.<\/p>\n<p>The poll also found that 64% of the state\u2019s Republican primary voters support Trump running for re-election. Nearly half, 48%, strongly support his re-election, while 16% somewhat support the former president serving a second term. The former president earned 40% support among the college-educated and 56% among fiscal conservatives.<\/p>\n<p>However, 34% of fiscal conservatives oppose his run for re-election, with 38% strongly supporting a second term, the poll found. Here\u2019s What DeSantis Said)<\/a> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Recent polls have shown Trump and DeSantis standing neck-to-neck in a hypothetical 2024 presidential election. A June <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/08\/desantis-reacts-straw-poll-narrowly-leading-trump-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">straw poll<\/a> found DeSantis leading Trump as a potential Republican nominee in 2024. The governor acquired 71% of support while Trump garnered 68% favorability.<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/22\/ron-desantis-leads-donald-trump-poll-new-hampshire-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">narrowly led<\/a> the former president in a poll surveying potential New Hampshire voters, earning 39% support while Trump attained 37%. He also had a slight lead against President Joe Biden in a potential presidential election, with the governor holding 47% and the president 46% favorability.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/20\/donald-trump-predicts-beating-ron-desantis-2024-matchup\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Trump<\/a> predicted that he would win against DeSantis in a potential primary race.<\/p>\n<p data-inc=\"1\">\u201cI don\u2019t know if Ron is running, and I don\u2019t ask him,\u201d Trump told\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/magazine\/2022\/06\/27\/can-ron-desantis-displace-donald-trump-as-the-gops-combatant-in-chief\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The New Yorker<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s his prerogative.
