A spokesperson for the Colorado Secretary of State denied the claim.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Wisconsin\u2019s Supreme Court ruled that absentee ballot boxes were unconstitutional, requiring mail-in voters to drop off the ballots at the county clerk\u2019s office, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpr.org\/wisconsin-supreme-court-rules-absentee-ballot-drop-boxes-are-illegal-wisconsin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wisconsin Public Radio<\/a>. The Pennsylvania Senate voted to end the use of drop boxes and absentee balloting in the state in April, <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/2022-midterm-elections-pennsylvania-presidential-tom-wolf-voting-88dff47833e0a075967791b6886bf4b3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Associated Press<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>A post shared on Facebook claims Colorado also recently outlawed drop boxes. \u201cBreaking news Colorado outlaws mail-in ballot boxes! Other states should follow!\u201d reads the July 11 post.\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2022\/06\/30\/fact-check-texas-wisconsin-arkansas-2020-decertified\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Have Texas, Wisconsin And Arkansas Decertified The 2020 Presidential Election?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There is no evidence Colorado issued such a ban. Colorado law currently states that drop boxes must be located \u201cin a manner that provides the greatest convenience to electors,\u201d according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncsl.org\/research\/elections-and-campaigns\/vopp-table-9-ballot-drop-box-definitions-design-features-location-and-number.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Conference of State Legislatures<\/a>. The law also stipulates that there must be one box for every 30,000 voters.<\/p>\n<p>Colorado county websites such as <a href=\"https:\/\/clerk.mesacounty.us\/elections\/vspc-and-drop-boxes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mesa<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.douglas.co.us\/elections\/ballot-drop-off-locations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Douglas<\/a> have drop box locations listed for voters to use. The Colorado Secretary of State\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sos.state.co.us\/pubs\/elections\/closures.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.sos.state.co.us\/pubs\/elections\/closures.html&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1658261162662000&#038;usg=AOvVaw0wEYFpuDwg-KtrpAuRkuKF\">website<\/a> does not mention any ban on drop boxes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis claim is false,\u201d said Colorado Secretary of State spokesperson Annie Orloff in an email to Check Your Fact. \u201cColorado continues to use drop boxes for voters to return their ballots,\u201d<\/p>\n<p>About 75 percent of Colorado voters used drop boxes to return their mail-in ballots during the 2020 election, according to a press release from the Colorado Secretary of State\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sos.state.co.us\/pubs\/newsRoom\/pressReleases\/2020\/PR20200901DropBoxes.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">office<\/a>. The Colorado Gazette <a href=\"https:\/\/gazette.com\/news\/elections\/tuesdays-primary-election-in-colorado-what-you-need-to-know\/article_9aa38854-f655-11ec-a44c-d7f2db4eb4a6.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a> that several Colorado counties also used drop boxes for the June 2022 primary elections.<\/p>\n<p>This is not the first time Check Your Fact has fact-checked misinformation around mail-in ballots.
