As you can see from the required disclosures, with which the Speaker fully cooperates, these transactions are marked \u2018SP\u2019 for Spouse. The Speaker has no prior knowledge or subsequent involvement in any transactions,\u201d Pelosi\u2019s spokesman, Drew Hammill, told news outlets on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Hammill added that there are \u201cat least three proposals introduced in the House\u201d regarding whether Pelosi supports proposals to bar trading by members of Congress. \u201cThe Speaker has asked the Committee on House Administration to review these proposals,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo be clear, insider trading is already a serious federal criminal and civil violation and the Speaker strongly supports robust enforcement of the relevant statutes by the Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission,\u201d Hammill also said, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/politics\/nancy-pelosis-office-responds-husbands-controversial-computer-chip-stock-purchase-ahead-congress-vote\">Fox News<\/a>. \u201cThe Speaker led the House in passing the bipartisan Courthouse Ethics and Transparency Act, which would subject federal judges to similar disclosure requirements as those in the STOCK Act. President Biden signed this bill into law in May. \u201d<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/nancy-pelosis-husband-makes-big-round-of-stock-trades-including-apple-nvidia-visa_4600214.html\">disclosure<\/a> that was filed by Pelosi\u2019s office showed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-paul-pelosi\">Paul Pelosi<\/a>, her husband,\u00a0exercised 200 call options, or 20,000 shares, of semiconductor company\u00a0Nvidia at a\u00a0strike price of $100 with an expiration of June 17. The purchase was worth between $1 million and $5 million.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, Paul Pelosi sold\u00a0portions of his Apple and Visa holdings, according to the speaker\u2019s disclosure, as the move to purchase Nvidia stock raised questions about whether he had insider knowledge about the legislation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt certainly raises the specter that Paul Pelosi could have access to some insider legislative information,\u201d Craig Holman, a government affairs lobbyist, told the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/07\/15\/pelosis-husband-massive-amount-in-chips-stock-before-expected-senate-vote-subsidies\/\">Daily Caller<\/a> about the recent filing. \u201cThis is the reason why there is a stock trading app that exclusively monitors Paul\u2019s trading activity and then its followers do likewise.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Epoch Times has contacted Pelosi\u2019s office for comment.<\/p>\n<p>In late June, Speaker Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) issued a joint statement urging swift action on the\u00a0$52 billion deal, which they say would subsidize U.S. semiconductor manufacturing and boost competitiveness with Chinese technology.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDemocrats have already made accommodations in the name of reaching an agreement, which we are optimistic can happen soon,\u201d they said after reportedly meeting with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.).<\/p>\n<p>The Senate legislation, passed in June 2021, included $52 billion for chips subsidies and authorized another $200 billion to boost U.S. scientific and technological innovation to compete with China.<\/p>\n<p>The House version, passed in February, is nearly 3,000 pages long and includes a number of trade proposals not in the Senate bill.
