Version: 4.0.47--><p>A federal court has granted a request by Missouri and Louisiana officials to obtain information and documents from top-ranking officials in the Biden administration over its alleged collusion with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-social-media\">social media<\/a> giants in an effort to\u00a0censor and suppress free speech.<\/p>\n<p>Eric Schmitt, Missouri\u2019s Republican attorney general, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Eric_Schmitt\/status\/1546964130338422786\">announced<\/a> on social media on July 13 that\u00a0Terry Doughty, a judge in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, had ruled in favor of the request for the\u00a0discovery process.<\/p>\n<p>The ruling paves the way for the\u00a0attorneys general\u00a0to collect documents from top-ranking Biden administration officials and social media giants.<\/p>\n<p>In court documents (<a href=\"https:\/\/ago.mo.gov\/docs\/default-source\/press-releases\/08916881989.pdf?sfvrsn=746ae69_2\">pdf<\/a>) shared by\u00a0Schmitt, Doughty wrote that\u00a0there is \u201cgood cause\u201d for an expedited preliminary injunction discovery.<\/p>\n<p>The judge,\u00a0a Trump appointee, also gave a timeline in which federal officials and social media platforms must hand over documents.<\/p>\n<p>Plaintiff states may serve document and information requests from government officials and\u00a0third party subpoenas on up to five major social media platforms seeking to identify which federal officials have allegedly been in communication with them within five\u00a0business days after the ruling.<\/p>\n<p>The ruling was issued on July 12.<\/p>\n<p>Federal officials and social media platforms must also hand over\u00a0documents and answer questions from officials from the two states within the next 30\u00a0days, the judge ruled.<\/p>\n<p> \u2018Suppressed Disfavored Speakers\u2019 <\/p>\n<p>The ruling comes after the attorneys general of Louisiana and Missouri filed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-lawsuit\">lawsuit<\/a> in May alleging that the Biden\u00a0administration \u201ccolluded with and\/or coerced social media companies to suppress disfavored speakers, viewpoints, and content on social media platforms by labeling the content \u2018disinformation,\u2019 \u2018misinformation,\u2019 and \u2018malinformation.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The attorneys general named social media giants such as\u00a0Meta, Twitter, and YouTube in a press release announcing the lawsuit in May.<\/p>\n<p>They also claimed that\u00a0President Joe Biden himself, along with other\u00a0top-ranking government officials, had worked with the platforms to censor and suppress free<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A federal court has granted a request by Missouri and Louisiana officials to obtain information and documents from top-ranking officials in the Biden administration over its alleged collusion with social media giants in an effort to\u00a0censor and suppress free speech.
