Cunningham raised $28.3 million in the third quarter of that year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Beasley and GOP House Representative Ted Budd of North Carolina will face off in November after Senator Richard Burr (R) did not seek reelection, setting up a heated contest in the swing state. The race is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/local\/raleigh\/2022\/07\/15\/beasley-budd-senate-ad\">considered<\/a> to be one of the closest in the nation as Senate Republicans push to gain a majority over both chambers of congress.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Budd\u2019s fundraising <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/committee\/C00614776\/?tab=summary#total-raised\">dollars<\/a> from the beginning of last year until June 30, 2022, come in at over $6.3 million total. From April of last year until June 30 of this year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/committee\/C00777904\/\">Beasley<\/a> raised over $16 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Beasley was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wunc.org\/politics\/2022-07-13\/us-senate-nc-cheri-beasley-carolina-74-millions-raised-months-2022-election\">previously<\/a> a chief justice of the state Supreme Court and secured 81% of the May 17th primary vote in a field of 11 candidates. Budd won the primary in a field of 14 Republican candidates.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">As of April 27, Budd had reported totals reported at over $4.5 million. Budd\u2019s campaign reportedly referenced Beasley\u2019s announcement in a fundraising email last week, stating, \u201cwe cannot let her overwhelm us in fundraising.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Beasley released an attack ad against Budd on Friday, pointing to the cost of insulin for Americans. Her campaign told Axios that the television spot cost six figures, and will be shown throughout North Carolina.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u201cIf you live outside the U.S., a month\u2019s supply of this insulin costs about $16. But here, it\u2019s more than $220. And get this, when Congress had a chance to do something, politicians like Ted Budd voted against it,\u201d Beasley tweeted on Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u201cIt\u2019s time to stand up to the drug companies and put you first,\u201d she concluded.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83c\udf0e: $16<br \/>\ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8: $220<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s the average cost a month for insulin. Watch our latest ad: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/LSHatnVtmG\">pic.twitter.com\/LSHatnVtmG<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Cheri Beasley (@CheriBeasleyNC) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CheriBeasleyNC\/status\/1547928348650663940?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 15, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">In a statement to Axios, Budd senior advisor Jonathan Felts said, \u201cIt\u2019s only July, but Cheri Beasley is already a desperate candidate out of ideas and forced to fall back on the same distorted negative attacks that delivered Democrat losses in N.C. over the past decade.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Last week, Budd <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TedBuddNC\/status\/1547331951270301697?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet\">posted<\/a> a video on Twitter, linking Beasley to Biden\u2019s policies, saying, \u201cmy opponent, Cheri Beasley, she has supported Joe Biden every step of the way. Beasley supports Biden\u2019s reckless spending. Beasley supports Biden\u2019s tax increases.
