The official states the outbreak in the nation\u2019s largest city accounts for 30 percent of all U.S. cases, as Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/health\/2022\/07\/16\/nyc-official-reports-monkeypox-outbreak-represents-30-percent-of-u-s-cases\/\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>The U.N. subsidiary health agency is now aware of 9,200 cases in 63 countries at the last update issued Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>AFP <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-11020517\/WHO-declare-monkey-pox-outbreak-global-health-emergency.html\">reports<\/a> monkeypox infections have been slowly building since early May outside the West and Central African countries where the disease has long been endemic.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">An official in New York City reports a spike in monkeypox cases where incidents more than doubled in the past week. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/RIX1sgVxZp\">https:\/\/t.co\/RIX1sgVxZp<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartNews\/status\/1548509182835302402?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 17, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>But a majority advised the W.HO.\u2019s chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus that the situation, at that point, had not met that threshold.<\/p>\n<p>Now a second meeting will be held on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe emergency committee will provide its views to the W.H.O. director general on whether the event constitutes a PHEIC,\u201d the agency said in a statement.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_21344692\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/media.breitbart.com\/media\/2022\/06\/cdc-directives.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has delivered intimate guidance for those considering sexual activity in an age of monkeypox. The tips come under the published heading Social Gatherings, Safer Sex and Monkeypox.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cIf so, it will propose temporary recommendations on how to better prevent and reduce the spread of the disease and manage the global public health response.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A statement will be issued in the days following the meeting.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Among the cases who reported at least one symptom, 81 percent presented with a widespread rash on the body, 50 percent presented with fever and 41 percent presented with genital rash.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">British officials have told those suffering from monkeypox that they should abstain from sex in the hopes of curbing the spread of the disease. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/x9WkcWK7C3\">https:\/\/t.co\/x9WkcWK7C3<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartNews\/status\/1531981221265346560?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 1, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The W.H.O.\u2019s 16-member emergency committee on monkeypox is chaired by Jean-Marie Okwo-Bele from the Democratic Republic of Congo, who is a former director of the W.H.O.\u2019s Vaccines and Immunisation Department.<\/p>\n<p>Most monkeypox infections so far have been observed in \u2013 but by no means limited to \u2013 men who have sex with men, of young age and chiefly in urban areas, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/publications\/m\/item\/monkeypox-public-health-advice-for-men-who-have-sex-with-men?gclid=CjwKCAjw5s6WBhA4EiwACGncZWY2yZJUemO5TNLnQnZJjzSvtpSof4mLYAXdLmyU38oUgxLy-tUEZRoCuZIQAvD_BwE\">according to<\/a> the W.H.O.<\/p>\n<p>Appearing Sunday on CBS\u2019 <em>Face The Nation<\/em>,\u00a0former FDA commissioner Scott Gottlieb said the window to control the virus has likely closed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think they\u2019re going to be reluctant to use the word pandemic, because it implies that they\u2019ve failed to contain this, and I think at this point we\u2019ve failed to contain this,\u201d Gottlieb said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re probably detecting just a fraction of the actual cases,\u201d he added. \u201cI think the window for getting control of this and containing it probably has closed, and if it hasn\u2019t closed, it\u2019s certainly starting to close.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Former FDA Commissioner Dr. Scott Gottlieb says \u201cwe\u2019ve failed to contain\u201d the spread of monkeypox, adding that the window for controlling and containing the virus &#8220;probably has closed.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If it hasn&#8217;t closed, it&#8217;s certainly starting to close,&#8221;
