He also pressed his counterparts to ensure human rights and allow their citizens to speak openly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe future will be won by the countries that unleash the full potential of their populations,\u201d Biden said, and that includes allowing people to \u201cquestion and criticize leaders without fear of reprisal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the de facto ruler of Saudi Arabia, convened the summit, which gave him an opportunity to showcase his country\u2019s heavyweight role in the Mideast.
