Ron DeSantis\u2019s reelection campaign.<\/p>\n<p>News of the $10 million was published by the Friends of Ron DeSantis statewide political committee on its website on Thursday. The donation was made on July 7 and is the largest single contribution that DeSantis, a Republican, has received.<\/p>\n<p>The donor is Robert Bigelow, the founder of Bigelow Aerospace, a \u201cgeneral contracting, research and development company\u201d located in\u00a0Las Vegas attempting to develop an \u201cexpandable habitat\u201d in space.<\/p>\n<p>The donation comes amid speculation about whether DeSantis will announce his candidacy for president in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Bigelow\u2019s contribution is so large that it dwarfs the total combined donations made to DeSantis\u2019 Democrat competitors as of July 1, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/meet-the-press\/meetthepressblog\/cosmic-landlord-cuts-worldly-check-desantis-rcna38342\">NBC News reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The political committee has so far raised more than $130 million\u00a0to \u201csupport and discuss\u201d DeSantis in Florida. Records show the committee has garnered a significant amount of financial contributions from big donors to micro donors alike (<a href=\"https:\/\/friendsofrondesantis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/fordcont-071422.pdf\">pdf<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p> Billionaire Support <\/p>\n<p>DeSantis\u2019 reelection efforts have reportedly seen support from at least 42 billionaires and their super wealthy family members, according to analyses, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tallahassee.com\/story\/news\/local\/state\/2022\/05\/25\/florida-desantis-notable-billionaire-supporters-koch-publix\/9745715002\/\">Tallahassee Democrat reported.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The outlet reported that among the Florida governor\u2019s noteworthy billionaire donors is Citadel founder and CEO Ken Griffin, worth $26 billion, according to Forbes. He\u00a0donated $5 million.<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis\u2019 reelection efforts have also been financially supported by Julia Koch, the widow of\u00a0David Koch, worth more than $62 billion;\u00a0Julie\u00a0Jenkins Fancelli, one of the children of Publix founder George Jenkins, worth around $8 billion; and others.<\/p>\n<p>The world\u2019s richest man, Tesla CEO and SpaceX founder Elon Musk, has also thrown his moral support behind DeSantis.
