This rumor stems from a website that publishes \u201chumor, parody, and satire.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The image shows what appears to be a screen grab of a news article with a headline that reads, \u201cSpecial Forces Arrest Secretary of Veterans Affairs Denis McDonough.\u201d The post\u2019s caption claims the arrest was made at a Las Vegas hotel in the early morning of July 10 and alleges the secretary is being investigated for \u201ctreason, embezzlement, theft and dereliction of duty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In reality, there is no mention of his alleged arrest on either the Defense Department\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defense.gov\/News\/Releases\/?Search=arrested+Denis+McDonough\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a> or the Justice Department\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/news?keys=arrested+Denis+McDonough&#038;items_per_page=25\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a>. There is likewise no mention of such an arrest in either department\u2019s verified <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/profile\/100064688230749\/search\/?q=arrested%20Denis%20McDonough\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">social<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/profile\/100064654872564\/search\/?q=arrested%20Denis%20McDonough\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">media<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=arrested%20Denis%20McDonough%20(from%3ADeptofDefense%20OR%20from%3ATheJusticeDept)&#038;src=typed_query&#038;f=top\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">posts<\/a>. Check Your Fact could not find a single <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=Secretary+of+Veterans+Affairs+Denis+McDonough+arrested&#038;rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS820US820&#038;oq=Secretary+of+Veterans+Affairs+Denis+McDonough+arrested&#038;aqs=chrome..69i57j0i546l2.2968j0j7&#038;sourceid=chrome&#038;ie=UTF-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">credible news report<\/a> about the purported development.<\/p>\n<p>On July 11, a day after the alleged arrest, McDonough and Housing and Urban Development Secretary Marcia Fudge <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hud.gov\/press\/press_releases_media_advisories\/hud_no_22_130\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">announced<\/a> $10.4 million in potential funding for renovating low-income and disabled veterans\u2019 homes under the Veterans Housing Rehabilitation and Modification Pilot Program. McDonough\u2019s verified <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SecVetAffairs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twitter account<\/a> also remains active.<\/p>\n<p>An internet search reveals the claim stems from the website Real Raw News, which published the headline as part of a July 13 <a href=\"https:\/\/realrawnews.com\/2022\/07\/special-forces-arrest-secretary-of-veterans-affairs-denis-mcdonough\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">article<\/a>. The website\u2019s \u201cAbout Us\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/realrawnews.com\/about-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">page<\/a> clarifies that the site is satirical and \u201ccontains humor, parody, and satire.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/09\/14\/fact-check-joe-biden-ordered-withhold-covid-unvaccinated-veterans-benefits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Viral Image Claims Joe Biden Ordered The Department Of Veterans Affairs To Withhold Unvaccinated Veterans\u2019 Health Benefits)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Check Your Fact <a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/10\/21\/fact-check-instagram-post-falsely-claims-colin-powell-died-by-suicide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">previously<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/10\/22\/fact-check-military-sentence-andrew-cuomo-death\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">corrected<\/a> false rumors stemming from the website claiming that former Secretary of State Colin Powell died by suicide and that a military panel sentenced former New York Gov.
