Wade. Part of this order takes measures to ensure women\u2019s abortion records are kept private from outside groups and data collectors who could leak their information to local law enforcement. The goal is to prevent both abortion providers and receivers from being criminally prosecuted in states that are cracking down on the procedure. This comes after the President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2021\/11\/04\/fact-sheet-biden-administration-announces-details-of-two-major-vaccination-policies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">enacted<\/a> an executive order requiring Americans to publicly display their COVID-19 vaccination status for months in order to keep their jobs. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/07\/11\/biden-public-health-emergency-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Biden Considers Declaring Public Health Emergency To Help Secure Abortion Access)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe President\u2019s executive order takes additional steps to protect patient privacy, including by addressing the transfer and sales of sensitive health-related data, combatting digital surveillance related to reproductive health care services,\u201d the White House stated on their website. \u201cHHS (The Department of Health and Human Services) will consider additional actions, including under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), to better protect sensitive information related to reproductive health care.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The White House added <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hhs.gov\/hipaa\/for-professionals\/privacy\/guidance\/phi-reproductive-health\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">new guidance<\/a> issued by the HHS Secretary, addressing how the HIPAA Privacy Rule protects women\u2019s reproductive information.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe guidance helps ensure doctors and other medical providers and health plans know that, with limited exceptions, they are not required \u2013 and in many cases, are not permitted \u2013 to disclose patients\u2019 private information, including to law enforcement,\u201d the HHS website read.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cProtecting the privacy and security of this information, including what doctors you visit and what medical treatments or services you receive, allows you to control who has access to information about you, how much access they have, and when they have access,\u201d the website continued.<\/p>\n<p>Some of President Biden\u2019s critics believe his administration holds a double standard when it comes to abortion vs. vaccine privacy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt certainly is nice to see the Biden administration finally taking privacy rights seriously, if only for ginning up a make believe scenario of law enforcement tracking down women for obtaining an out of state abortion,\u201d Dr. Ben Carson, Former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, told the Daily Caller News Foundation. \u201cThe irony is they pick and choose when to apply privacy and \u201cmy body, my choice\u201d in their policymaking,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you selectively apply privacy on medical records, you violate the public\u2019s trust and politicize public health,\u201d Ray Wang, CEO of Constellation Research, told the Daily Caller News Foundation. \u201cWe have to restore trust in our public institutions and a double standard is counterproductive,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7474849\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7474849\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7474849\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/GettyImages-1241665058-scaled-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/GettyImages-1241665058-scaled-1.jpg 2560w, https:\/\/cdn01.dailycaller.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/GettyImages-1241665058-180x120.jpg 180w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/GettyImages-1241665058-620x413-1.jpg 620w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/GettyImages-1241665058-768x512-1.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/GettyImages-1241665058-1536x1024-1.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/GettyImages-1241665058-2048x1365-1.jpg 2048w\" \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-7474849\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">This photograph taken on July 2, 2022, shows a banner reading \u201cmy body, my choice\u201d as demonstrators take part in a rally calling for right to abortion to be protected by Constitution in Paris (Photo by CHRISTOPHE ARCHAMBAULT\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>When it came to vaccine information, HHS compiled a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hhs.gov\/hipaa\/for-professionals\/privacy\/guidance\/hipaa-covid-19-vaccination-workplace\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">list<\/a> of exceptions to the HIPAA Privacy Rule. It states the rule does not prohibit businesses, employers, restaurants, schools or entertainment venues from requiring individuals to show proof of vaccination.<\/p>\n<p>Contrastingly, when discussing abortion privacy, the administration stated that President Biden\u2019s new executive order on abortion allows individuals to \u201cprotect\u201d themselves from \u201cpotential discrimination, identity theft, or harm to (their) reputation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s critics have previously <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/01\/13\/defeat-the-mandates-dc-feds-for-medical-freedom-march\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">called<\/a> his federal vaccine mandates discriminatory, which prompted multiple lawsuits and ultimately led to the Supreme Court <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/opinions\/21pdf\/21a244_hgci.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">striking down<\/a> his executive order demanding the vaccination of all Americans who work for companies with more than 100 employees. Some companies are currently being <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/07\/12\/fired-disney-workers-sue-over-alleged-religious-discrimination\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sued<\/a> by employees alleging medical and religious discrimination for continuing their vaccine mandates after the Supreme Court\u2019s ruling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There are currently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foley.com\/en\/insights\/publications\/2020\/07\/employer-use-of-contact-tracing-apps#:~:text=There%20are%20currently%20no%20specific,than%20would%20normally%20be%20allowed.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">no<\/a> federal or state laws preventing U.S. companies from requiring their employees to download COVID tracking apps. During the pandemic, A number of colleges and universities mandating the COVID vaccine required students to permit apps to track their health information, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eff.org\/deeplinks\/2020\/07\/university-app-mandates-are-wrong-call\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according<\/a> to the Electronic Frontier Foundation. Some of these apps tracked\u00a0students\u2019 locations, The New York Post <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2020\/09\/02\/college-forces-students-to-download-location-tracking-covid-19-app\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Under Biden\u2019s new proposed <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.ed.gov\/about\/offices\/list\/ocr\/docs\/t9nprm.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">changes<\/a> to Title IX, all federally funded colleges must protect student\u2019s seeking abortions and academically accommodate them, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insidehighered.com\/news\/2022\/06\/29\/title-ix-protections-pregnant-students-post-roe-america\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Inside Higher Ed.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The White House did not respond to a request for comment by the Daily Caller News Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience.
