Now that he\u2019s gotten older, they made it a very real, obvious thing,\u201d the actor <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2022\/tv\/news\/stranger-things-noah-schnapp-will-byers-gay-doja-cat-1235317378\/\">said<\/a> in a new interview with Variety.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow it\u2019s 100% clear that he is gay and he does love Mike,\u201d Schnapp continued. \u201cBut before, it was a slow arc. I think it is done so beautifully, because it\u2019s so easy to make a character just like all of a sudden be gay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cStranger Things\u201d star insists that the gay storyline has been especially impactful for fans of the show.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople have come up to me \u2014 I was just in Paris and this, like, 40-year-old man came up to me and he was like, \u2018Wow, this Will character made me feel so good. And I related to it so much,\u2019\u201d he explained. \u201c\u2018That is exactly who I was when I was a kid.\u2019 That just made me so happy to hear. They are writing this real character and this real journey and real struggle and they\u2019re doing it so well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Later in the interview, Schnapp mentioned how he spoke with showrunners Matt and Ross Duffer about what\u2019s coming up for season five of the award-winning show. Though most fans already strongly suspect Will has romantic feelings for Mike, Schnapp said, \u201cWe hope for a coming out scene\u201d that tackles the issue head-on.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Duffers are saying for next season that they\u2019re going to focus more on Will and build that storyline. I think that\u2019s super exciting,\u201d the actor told Variety.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI called them a few weeks ago and I was like, \u2018What\u2019s your plan with Will? Like, with his sexuality, but also with the Upside Down and all of that?\u2019 They have a lot to get to. They\u2019re still working it out, but they have their end goal.
