Over $800 billion was allocated for the Pentagon, more than $30 billion for the Department of Energy, and some $400 million to other federal agencies. The spending plan has not yet been approved by the Senate, but is expected to pass.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The top Republican on the House Armed Services Committee, Rep. Mike Rogers (R-AL) <a href=\"https:\/\/republicans-armedservices.house.gov\/news\/press-releases\/rogers-praises-house-passage-fy23-ndaa\">praised<\/a> the passage of the bill. He added, \u201cHowever, our work is not done \u2014 we will continue to improve upon this bill in conference to ensure that this legislation gives our warfighters what they need.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rogers also <a href=\"https:\/\/republicans-armedservices.house.gov\/news\/press-releases\/rogers-speaks-house-floor-support-fy23-ndaa\">called<\/a> the bill the \u201cdefinition of a bipartisan bill.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There were more than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/defense-national-security\/house-passes-839-billion-defense-spending-bill\">600 amendments<\/a> voted on for the bill. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/07\/14\/house-passes-ndaa-00045972\">Key provisions<\/a> in the bill include another $1 billion for Ukraine, almost a billion for four EC-37B Compass Call electronic warfare aircraft for the Space Force, more high-tech Navy ships, more stipulations for jet sales to Turkey, a pay bump for soldiers due to inflation, and other measures.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It was more funding than President Biden had requested.<\/p>\n<p>Sixty-two Republicans and 39 Democrats voted against the package, with some Republicans raising concerns about a lack of oversight for the spending, the military\u2019s continued vaccine mandate, and the ramifications of the spending on skyrocketing inflation.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Dan Bishop (R-NC) <a href=\"https:\/\/danbishop.house.gov\/media\/press-releases\/bishop-votes-against-reckless-woke-defense-bill\">labeled<\/a> the bill \u201creckless\u201d and \u201cwoke.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBusiness as usual in Washington is not good enough \u2013 Congress cannot continue to rubber-stamp massive spending binges with nearly zero accountability. This bill does nothing to end Biden\u2019s vaccine mandate, which is an intentional purge of thousands of our best and bravest troops,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bishop said that Congress should be spending money on shoring up the southern border and increasing ICE funding instead of \u201cforeign misadventures.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs inflation continues to rage, shoveling money into the furnace of America Last foreign entanglements will only make our military weaker and our country more vulnerable,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Fellow Republican Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) agreed, <a href=\"https:\/\/roy.house.gov\/media\/press-releases\/rep-roy-statement-ndaa\">pointing<\/a> to the vaccine mandate and green energy provisions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI refuse to vote for a defense authorization bill that fires healthy, qualified service members because they won\u2019t get a politicized injection,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI refuse to vote to authorize $850 billion \u2014 $82 billion more than last year\u2019s NDAA when our country is $30 trillion in debt \u2014 for the Pentagon to brainwash our troops with anti-American ideology and pursue fantasy \u2018green\u2019 energy programs,\u201d the Texas congressman added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The spending approval comes as the U.S. continues to see decades-high inflation.
