Two teachers perished with them, the outlet reported.<\/p>\n<p>The message in the June 2 Facebook post is written from the perspective of Garza\u2019s mother. It laments the child\u2019s loss and then asks numerous questions about the tragedy before telling the world, \u201cPay attention to what\u2019s screaming today, or be forced to endure the silence that follows.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2022\/06\/06\/fact-check-border-patrol-agent-uvalde-shooting-suspect\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Did An Off-Duty Border Patrol Officer Kill The Uvalde Gunman?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The statement has also circulated on <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/OzRYA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tumblr<\/a>. However, Garza\u2019s mother informed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.snopes.com\/fact-check\/school-shooting-poem-uvalde-mother\/?utm_term=Autofeed&#038;utm_medium=Social&#038;utm_source=Facebook&#038;fbclid=IwAR0JbZBvYE4VKu1SsohVl_JMw898mu-QX6HBFZCBL8x0kEr7p5EJtO58hVA#Echobox=1656149159\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Snopes<\/a> that she did not write this statement. Furthermore, Check Your Fact could not find a single credible news report attributing the words to her.<\/p>\n<p>Girl Scouts honored Garza with a posthumous Bronze Cross award, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/amerie-jo-garza-girl-scouts-texas-school-shooting-posthumous-award\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CBS News<\/a>. The organization\u2019s Southwest Texas chapter said she \u201cdid all she could to save the lives of her classmates and teachers,\u201d the outlet reported.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">On May 24, Amerie did all she could to save the lives of her classmates and teachers.
