That leaves just eight years for farmers whose livelihoods revolve around cultivating land and raising animals to figure out how they can keep supplying the continent with food.<\/p>\n<p>Under the new \u201cgreen\u201d restrictions, many generational farmers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=7eL-tL7-63c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">say<\/a> that they risk bankruptcy or being forced out of the industry altogether. Even the government has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/news\/world\/explainer-why-are-dutch-farmers-protesting-over-emissions\/ar-AAYXoep\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">admitted<\/a> that \u201cThe honest message \u2026 is that not all farmers can continue their business.\u201d That\u2019s why, for more than a month now, large numbers of these Dutch farmers have protested government policies forcing them to wreak havoc on the nation\u2019s agricultural industry. <\/p>\n<p>A disruption like this, to a nation that is the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/07\/12\/good-for-dutch-farmers-for-fighting-back-against-a-govt-bowing-to-enviro-radicals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201clargest exporter of meat in Europe and the second largest exporter of food overall after the United States,\u201d<\/a> will also likely exacerbate food shortages caused by the Ukraine-Russia war throughout the European Union and other parts of the world.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the effects of the Dutch farmer protests on not just the global food supply but global climate policies, the issue has received little to no attention from corporate U.S. press outlets. <\/p>\n<p>Aside from a couple of general rundown articles from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/europe\/dutch-farmers-protest-by-blocking-supermarket-distribution-centres-2022-07-04\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Reuters<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Business\/wireStory\/anger-simmers-dutch-farmers-oppose-pollution-cuts-86545071\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ABC News<\/a>, the American media has failed to report on the Dutch farmer\u2019s concerns in any depth, much less address the implications the protests, and the climate policies that triggered them, have for the Netherlands and the rest of the world. <\/p>\n<p>The media\u2019s scant coverage of the protests certainly isn\u2019t on front pages or during prime time. As a matter of fact, it is framed to claim that farmers in the Netherlands \u201coppose pollution cuts\u201d that could \u201cprotect human health and vulnerable natural habitats from pollution in the form of nitrogen oxides and ammonia.\u201d That\u2019s quite a dishonest way to smear the industry that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weforum.org\/agenda\/2019\/11\/netherlands-dutch-farming-agriculture-sustainable\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cis a [global] leader in efficient and sustainable agriculture.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This time, instead of taking sides like they did when Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau smeared Canadian truckers for their Covid mandate protests, the American media has taken a backseat. They don\u2019t want to give attention to the issue and it\u2019s no surprise why: It would hurt their ability to fearmonger about the climate.<\/p>\n<p>Much like the Canadian trucker protests, tens of thousands of farmers in the Netherlands participated in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/news\/world\/explainer-why-are-dutch-farmers-protesting-over-emissions\/ar-AAYXoep\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tractor caravans<\/a> that brought traffic in the center of the country to a standstill. And much like the Canadian government\u2019s extreme crackdown on drivers who didn\u2019t want to be forced into getting the Covid jab, the Dutch government is shunning farmers, who are largely conservative, for daring to question its leftist climate agenda. In some cases, Dutch police have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/police-fire-dutch-farmer-protest-nitrogen-emission-cut\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">even fired shots<\/a> at the protesters, and the prime minister reportedly said in private company that he believes the farmers are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/world\/dutch-farmers-form-freedom-convoys-protest-governments-strict-environmental-rules\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201ca-holes.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The corporate media found the Canadian trucker protests worth covering because it gave them ammunition to further taint Americans who were against Covid jab mandates. They simply parroted Trudeau\u2019s disdain for the Freedom Convoy\u2019s \u201cunacceptable views,\u201d and channeled it into their ongoing campaign <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/07\/26\/corrupt-corporate-media-are-profiting-off-of-shaming-mocking-unvaccinated-covid-patients\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">against anyone<\/a> who dares question the Biden administration\u2019s narrative on the virus. <\/p>\n<p>As my colleague David Harsanyi has noted, for years now corporate media outlets have <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2019\/08\/27\/media-enables-ludicrous-destructive-climate-change-hysteria\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cenabled destructive climate change hysteria.\u201d<\/a> In some cases, the corrupt press has even dredged it up by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/02\/21\/climate\/green-new-deal-questions-answers.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">promoting destructive climate policies<\/a> such as the Green New Deal and highlighting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/science\/archive\/2020\/02\/poll-us-voters-really-do-care-about-climate-change\/606907\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sham polls<\/a> claiming climate change is a top priority for voters. In other cases, the media have been the ones <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/04\/29\/big-tech-censors-are-pivoting-from-covid-to-climate-change\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Big Tech<\/a> censors turned to when their narratives about <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/02\/19\/left-wing-facebook-fact-checker-censors-the-federalist-for-highlighting-texas-power-failures\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ineffective \u201cgreen power\u201d<\/a> and other climate propaganda were threatened. <\/p>\n<p>If corporate media show the world that so-called green policies will hurt their food supply and ravage the lives of tens of thousands of hardworking people like the Dutch farmers, they might not only <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/08\/americans-trust-in-government-media-and-other-major-institutions-nosedives-to-record-low\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lose even more credibility with Americans than they already have<\/a>, but also inadvertently bolster the case that climate policies like the ones adopted by the Netherlands will be disastrous.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n<p>\n  Jordan Boyd is a staff writer at The Federalist and co-producer of The Federalist Radio Hour.
