We want lawyers, grassroots activists, those with political and policy experience, scientists, health experts, and academics with required specialties,\u201d the report argued. \u201cBut we also want people who have experience running large operations with hundreds and thousands of employees and who understand logistics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris each have zero years of business experience. Likewise, top Cabinet officials \u2014 such as Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh, and U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai \u2014 do not have any experience in the business world. However, a handful of top officials \u2014 such as Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo and White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain, both of whom worked in venture capital \u2014 have more than a decade of business experience.<\/p>\n<p>The Committee to Unleash Prosperity also evaluated members of the Trump administration. In addition to President Donald Trump\u2019s 45 years in the business world, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross boasted 42 years, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin had 25 years, and Education Secretary Betsy DeVos spent 23 years in the arena.<\/p>\n<p>Business sentiment is suffering due to economic turmoil following COVID and the lockdown-induced recession, with 34% of small business owners <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/more-small-businesses-are-calling-inflation-their-single-most-important-problem\">calling<\/a> inflationary pressures their \u201csingle most important problem\u201d \u2014 the highest level since 1980, according to the National Federation of Independent Businesses\u2019 most recent Small Business Optimism Index.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, the Committee to Unleash Prosperity report comes after the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics revealed that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/inflation-soars-to-new-high-of-9-1\">rose<\/a> 9.1% between June 2021 and June 2022, while the Producer Price Index (PPI) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/producer-price-index-hits-11-3-in-another-dismal-inflation-reading\">rose<\/a> 11.3% during the same period. Among the factors behind increasing price levels are <a href=\"http:\/\/dailywire.com\/topic\/supply-chain\">supply chain<\/a> issues, higher <a href=\"http:\/\/dailywire.com\/topic\/gas-prices\">energy prices<\/a>, and persistent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/labor-shortage\">worker shortages<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>President Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-dismisses-record-high-inflation-news-as-out-of-date\">responded<\/a> to the inflation news by arguing that price levels are \u201cunacceptably high\u201d and affirmed that inflation \u201cis our most pressing economic challenge,\u201d yet contended that the recent findings are outdated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEnergy alone comprised nearly half of the monthly increase in inflation. Today\u2019s data does not reflect the full impact of nearly 30 days of decreases in gas prices,\u201d he said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2022\/07\/13\/president-biden-statement-on-cpi-inflation-in-june\/\">statement<\/a>, noting that gas prices have fallen by $0.40 since June. \u201cThose savings are providing important breathing room for American families.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden has also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/president-biden-blames-vladimir-putin-for-record-high-inflation\">characterized<\/a> inflation as \u201cPutin\u2019s Price Hike\u201d \u2014 a reference to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and its impact on global commodity prices. \u201cHigh gas prices at the pump, energy, and food prices accounted for around half of the monthly price increases, and gas pump prices are up by $2 a gallon in many places since Russian troops began to threaten Ukraine,\u201d Biden said last month. \u201cEven as we continue our work to defend freedom in Ukraine, we must do more \u2014 and quickly \u2014 to get prices down here in the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Inflation is a central issue for Americans casting their ballots in this year\u2019s midterm elections.
