The department cited federal civil rights law that prohibits \u201cpregnancy discrimination,\u201d which includes medical conditions related to pregnancy and childbirth.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">BREAKING: Federal officials are warning pharmacies to comply with civil rights law amid reports of women being denied abortion drugs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDiscrimination against pregnant people on the basis of their pregnancy or related conditions\u2026is a form of sex discrimination\u201d HHS says<\/p>\n<p>More TK<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Dan Diamond (@ddiamond) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ddiamond\/status\/1547264721253982208?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 13, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe are committed to ensuring that everyone can access health care, free of discrimination,\u201d HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra said. \u201cThis includes access to prescription medications for reproductive health and other types of care.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Department of Health and Human Services\u2019 (HHS or Department) Office for Civil Rights (OCR) is responsible for protecting the rights of women and pregnant people in their ability to access care that is free from discrimination,\u201d the guidance reads. \u201cThis includes their ability to access reproductive health care, including prescription medication from their pharmacy, free from discrimination.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The HHS document lists examples of discrimination according to these laws, which includes a refusal to give a patient <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/07\/11\/tribe-biden-public-health-emergency-khanna-dobbss\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">plan B<\/a> after a sexual assault. It also refers to pregnancy at one point as the \u201cgrowing of cells.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/07\/12\/elizabeth-warren-shut-down-crisis-pregnancy-centers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Elizabeth Warren Calls To \u2018Shut Down\u2019 Crisis Pregnancy Centers Amid Pro-Abortion Attacks)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a press release, the department outlined <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/07\/08\/joe-biden-executive-order-abortion-reproductive-health-contraception\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the steps<\/a> the Biden administration has taken since the overturning of Roe v.
