Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization<\/em><\/a>\u00a0was a long-awaited victory for life. While\u00a0<em>Dobbs<\/em>\u00a0did not make abortion illegal, it did empower the residents of all 50 states to democratically determine abortion\u2019s legal status through their elected representatives.<\/p>\n<p>Currently,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sbaprolife.org\/lifesavinglaws\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">22 states<\/a>\u00a0provide or will soon provide protection for unborn children. The other 28 states place few or no limits on abortion. The abortion battle will now move to the ballot box in each state. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But don\u2019t fall for the deceptively appealing belief that this battle will be limited to the political arena. According to a recent Harvard Harris\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/harvardharrispoll.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/HHP_June2022_KeyResults.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">poll<\/a>, 72% of Americans believe abortion should be illegal, or legal only with restrictions. The Left is well aware that a majority of states will pass at least some abortion restrictions in the coming months.<\/p>\n<p>On this issue, democracy is not their friend.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/thepoliticalinsider.com\/elizabeth-warren-demands-all-crisis-pregnancy-centers-be-shut-down-in-latest-pro-abortion-rant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Elizabeth Warren Demands All Crisis Pregnancy Centers Be \u2018Shut Down\u2019 In Latest Pro-Abortion Rant<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So, the Left is employing an autocratic means to impose its will \u2013 \u201cwoke capitalism,\u201d sometimes referred to as \u201cstakeholder capitalism.\u201d These terms sound compelling, even virtuous, but each is a ruse to conceal the Left\u2019s disdain for the inconvenience of real democracy.<\/p>\n<p>Woke capitalism attempts to reorient modern corporations from their traditional responsibility to generate returns for investors to a new mission of supporting leftist political activism. The Left has utilized this approach when advancing radical environmental policies, opposing Georgia\u2019s voter-fraud protections, or challenging Florida\u2019s law restricting instruction on gender identity and sexual orientation through the third grade. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Now the Left is employing woke capitalism to advance its position on abortion.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2022\/jul\/05\/planned-parenthood-abortion-rights-ceo-alexis-mcgill-johnson\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">According to<\/a>\u00a0the CEO of Planned Parenthood, America\u2019s largest abortion provider, the Number One goal post-<em>Dobbs<\/em>\u00a0is \u201cto get women where they need to be to access abortion.\u201d President Biden has signed an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2022\/07\/08\/fact-sheet-president-biden-to-sign-executive-order-protecting-access-to-reproductive-health-care-services\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">executive order<\/a>\u00a0pushing back against potential state efforts to limit a woman\u2019s ability to cross state lines for an abortion.<\/p>\n<div id=\"subscribe\" class=\"email-signup inarticle\">\n<h4>Support Conservative Voices!<\/h4>\n<h5><strong>Sign up to receive the latest<\/strong> political news, insight, and commentary delivered directly to your inbox.<\/h5>\n<\/div>\n<p>Biden\u2019s executive order would protect the efforts of at least\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/companies-offering-abortion-travel-benefits-us-workers-2022-06-24\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">60<\/a> U.S. corporations that have announced abortion travel benefits for employees unable to get abortions where they reside.<\/p>\n<p>The monies to pay for these costs could otherwise be used to reduce operating expenses (increasing investors\u2019 returns) or to pay dividends. These woke CEOs are not using their own money to fund this perk \u2013 they are using their investors\u2019 monies to advance policies that these investors may well oppose. This is woke capitalism\u2019s cornerstone: using other peoples\u2019 resources to advance political goals.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The list of companies providing such abortion benefits is not limited to those associated with the far Left, such as Starbucks, Patagonia, Google, Amazon, CNN, the New York Times, or the irreparably woke Disney. It also includes\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/minnesota\/news\/abortion-travel-companies-paying-benefits-amazon-starbucks-target\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">companies<\/a>\u00a0such as Kroger, Dick\u2019s Sporting Goods, CVS drugstores, Mastercard, and Target.<\/p>\n<p>Keep these names in mind when you shop \u2013 and when you invest.<\/p>\n<p>You may be unaware, though, that you have invested in these companies because your shares sit in a pension fund, mutual fund, 401k plan, or other investment product managed by fiduciaries tasked with prudently investing your money \u2013 not supporting some political agenda.<\/p>\n<p>But major\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pionline.com\/money-management\/after-supreme-courts-abortion-ruling-blackrock-and-other-asset-managers-say-theyll\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">financial firms<\/a>\u00a0such as BlackRock, State Street, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Wells Fargo, Citigroup, and Bank of America have all joined the abortion perks bandwagon, and they are unlikely to object when companies divert corporate assets on behalf of causes that they also support.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/thepoliticalinsider.com\/pro-abortion-activists-offering-reward-to-restaurant-workers-who-report-sightings-of-scotus-justices\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pro-Abortion Activists Offering Reward To Restaurant Workers Who Report Sightings Of SCOTUS Justices<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Woke CEOs claim that these policies benefit their businesses because they meet employees\u2019 needs. But will they provide comparable benefits to employees facing crisis pregnancies who make the alternative choice \u2013 the choice for life? How about travel benefits for visiting crisis pregnancy centers if none are accessible where the employee resides, perhaps because they\u2019ve been vandalized or firebombed?<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s striking that companies like Amazon and Starbucks, which claim to regard employees as \u201cstakeholders,\u201d are determined not to offend their workforce when it comes to abortion access but will risk offending those same employees by resisting their efforts to unionize. Perhaps these woke CEOs are actually more concerned about offending pro-abortion activists than supporting their workers.<\/p>\n<p>The bottom line: conservative Americans can no longer conduct business as usual. The radical Left now controls many of the companies and investment firms that we\u2019ve trusted in the past.<\/p>\n<p>On the plus side, however, the free market will self-correct over time, rewarding investors who choose companies focused on profits rather than politics.
