I didn\u2019t have an album out when I found out I was pregnant. Everybody was so nervous for my career and future, but I kept telling them, \u2018It\u2019s easy. Trust me, I\u2019m going to have a nanny and she\u2019s going to travel up and down with me. It\u2019s not even going to be a hassle.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Instead of hiring help for the baby, she shares with her husband, American rapper Offset, Cardi relied on her parents for assistance. However, she felt guilty about how much work they were putting in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour parents have already lived their life and raised their kids,\u201d she told Vogue. \u201cThey are older and don\u2019t have the same energy as someone in their 20s. I\u2019m never far from my kids because that\u2019s my responsibility as a mother.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The rapper said she had been up with her toddler son, Wave, \u201call night and all day\u201d before the interview, which left her just as tired as any regular parent of two little kids.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m exhausted. I\u2019ve been overwhelmed and scared,\u201d she explained. \u201cI started to think about how my mom had to go through this a lot because my sister and I used to always fall sick at the same time. I\u2019ve never appreciated my [mom] more \u2014 having kids helps you see things a little bit different.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cardi also had a refreshing take on indulging her kids. Though she\u2019s known for buying her children extravagant gifts, she insists that Kulture and Wave won\u2019t be too spoiled.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey need to know to never feel comfortable. Don\u2019t ever feel like, \u2018I\u2019m going to get it because I\u2019m Cardi and Offset\u2019s kid, \u201d Cardi said. \u201cThey are never going to know what struggle feels like, so they might not have that hunger I had to leave the streets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven though my kids are well-off, I want them to know that when you work for things and achieve it, it\u2019s more respected \u2014 especially when people see that you bust your ass for it,\u201d the rapper continued.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It goes without saying that many celebrities have at least one nanny to help them juggle their career and kids, but it turns out Cardi B was too nervous to hire one when she had her first baby.
