He\u2019s also headed the\u00a0National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since the Reagan administration.<\/p>\n<p>Fauci then said it\u2019s because of the vaccination that it is \u201cvery likely why I had a relatively mild course.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> Natural Immunity <\/p>\n<p>The official\u2019s comments come just days after a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/mkt_app\/natural-immunity-97-percent-effective-against-severe-covid-19-after-14-months-study_4586731.html\">bombshell study revealed<\/a> that natural immunity, or the immunity conferred via a previous COVID-19 infection, provides superior protection against the virus when compared with vaccines.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers in Qatar\u00a0said that individuals who survived a COVID-19 infection and weren\u2019t vaccinated had very high protection against severe or fatal disease.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEffectiveness of primary infection against severe, critical, or fatal COVID-19 reinfection was 97.3 percent \u2026 irrespective of the variant of primary infection or reinfection, and with no evidence for waning. Similar results were found in sub-group analyses for those \u226550 years of age,\u201d Dr. Laith Abu-Raddad of Weill Cornell Medicine\u2013Qatar wrote.<\/p>\n<p>But the researchers noted that\u00a0both natural and artificial immunity conferred via vaccines waned over time.
